Have one installed in a sectioned 32 shell and it fits easily. Allows use of stock Mustang hoses on the small block Ford too.

I was thinking of doing the same thing with a 28 shell. I think someone here has mentioned this before, I don't know. I got sbc 350, $400-$700 is a lot of money to me for a purpose built rad, compaired to a $100 bucks or so. Check out Autozone web site, it gives you dimentions of the rads. Any body done this with a sbc?

  7. I belive Jim Sibly just put a mustang radiator behind one (may heva been 32 though). I honestly cannot remeber the grill, but it was early Ford, and it was a 65/66 Mustang V-8 radiator

I've run a mid '60's some kind of Ford(station wagon, van?) radiator in my '34 Chevy coupe since '82. It came with the car. I've had it recored twice. It has a 2 and a quarter inch core. Always worked OK with a with a warmed up 283.

Well, since this thread is still up, I'll give you the measurements I took off the 65.
    Core thickness: 2-1/4"
    Top thickness: 3-1/4"
    Width: 17-3/4"
    Height: 21"
    in/out hoses on passenger side
Rad. cap on top, drivers side

    Hope that helps

I have used one in my '34 with a chopped grill shell for 16 years. I run a 355 SBC, flex fan, long water pump, no electric fan. Fans sits about 1" from the rad. The stock water outlets work after some juggling of hoses. Cooling with a full hood could get a little marginal on a hot Pittsburgh day so I installed a stock 64-65 Mustang fan shroud, looks OK, works better than nothing, cheap.

Wish I could help with part #s. I formed my hose patterns from large diameter wire and searched through the hose rack at my nearest parts store until I found matches. Look at longer hoses with the right matching curves, they can be shortened as needed. Not a very scientific way to do it but it works. It also helps to have a friendly counter person.

I just ran across this thread...

Those of you running the '65 Mustang radiator and flipping them over, do you have any pictures of how you actually mount your radiator? Did you have stock style tabs added to the radiator? What about grille shell tabs and support rod brackets and the likes? Could use some pics! I have to tackle this VERY soon and will be ordering the radiator probably next week, for that matter. Thanks!

I happen to have a '68 mustang rad and a 30/31 rad shell uncut right now. it is clear how to cut to fit. no guess work involved.

Scouter, I think us Mopar guys need a flip. if you find somthing out, lemme know. my water pump is driver's side. Ford is pass... Big loop...

I used a 55 studebaker radiator support chopped down to fit the width of the shell, then mounted the headlights, shell and radiator to it. It's very solid, and I won't have to have those rods running to the firewall.

Then I'll make a shroud that fits just inside the grill shell to cover up all the ugly looks of the backside.

The stock shroud on a 67 is very thin . I have one in the shed and the radiator i can get a pic of them placed together in a 31 shell from the engine side tommorrow If anyone is interested . This is a great idea may solve alot of cash savings in cooling with a better unit .

I'm flipping mine over so it fits better in a 32 grille shelle. Then I'll have my local radiator shop move the inlet and outlets accordingly as well as put a 90-degree filler off the back so I don't have tricky filling.

Looks like mounting should be pretty straight forward then. Cool!

    Thanks guys!

I'm still in mock up, how spendy is it to have them swap stuff around? Is your Hemi the same as my Poly?

Hmmm... not sure if the stock water pumps on a 331/354/392 are arranged the same as a later 318, but I'm guessing so.

OH... shouldn't be too bad to move stuff around. Was talking to someone that said they paid like $90 or so. That's still very reasonable.

Absolutely Chris! It will be soon actually. Just need to order
