Anyone familiar with these alum. heads made by "Pro comp" ? they are priced curiously low.... ebay link ... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...m=260217196856&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=016
If you don't mind Chinese junk they are fine. You might have to have them remachined completely, but that's the chance you take.
I was interested in buying a set of these also, but after much research I decided aganst it. Horror stories I heard included headers bolt holes not lining up, intakes not lining up, poor craftsmanship and so on. So I went with a set of Dart Iron Eagle Platinum heads.
The MSD coil I had in my hand the other day had made in China on it. And plenty of aftermarket heads are made in China or at the very least cast there. I tell ya...
Pro-comp= Pro-junk. Bought a NEW electric water pump for the dragster. It was not machined square anywhere and leaked like a *****. Tried to tighten the screws that held it together and they were stripped out. $135 in the dumpster. Never again anything with that name on it!
I bought a set of pro comp heads off e-bay took them to my machiene shop guy,he put the valves and springs in etc. Said they looked OK had to take.003 off the surface to make them straight so that was no big deal. Hope they run OK I haven,t put em on my motor yet so I don't know. BTW these are made in Austrailia
No, they are not, unfortunately....the company has an "office" there to imply that they are. They have one in the U.S.A. as well. Some of their business practices are, shall we say, interesting.
MSD sued them a couple of years back for infringing on their stuff...and won. ProComp is selling complete **** and trying to p*** it off as decent stuff. Ingition, water pumps, heads, lots of stuff. Stay away. Made in China by way of Australia.
