For all of you who live close enough to make the trip, the annual Lincoln Swapmeet is on Sunday, March 9 at the Nebraska State Fairgrounds Park. Lot of inside vendor displays and lots of cars and parts outside...bring your parkas and handwarmers and come on out!
And usually a rain coat, and a old pair of boots to get around in the mud. It's almost a guarantee that it will rain either the night before or that day.
Last year wasn't bad but two years ago it was a mess.We we're walking out last year and the last swap space had just a few odd things and a t bird wrap around seat.I stopped and was looking at the seat and the old boy said"Ya know what that is?''"T bird?"back at him"Yep,thats the one their all looking for.""What you getting for it?"I asked."$15.00""take $10.00""Sold"I love Lincoln swap meet.
I was there last year and got a couple of good buys. Not enough to pay for the fuel for a 8 hour round trip though. But you never know.
The cool guy will be there bright and early.Breakfast at Hy=Vee and 400 miles of walking thru car stuff. I am getting so excited already!!
Just use www.mapquest.com (or your site of choice) and make the end location "Nebraska State Fairgrounds". If that doesn't work, it's near the intersection of 27th & Cornhusker. Malcolm
Wouldn't miss it. Found some nice stuff there last year and 32 chevy coupe on the way home. Got to get there early for the best deals and theres alot of ground to cover
I have 3 9" rears. One is out of a truck but is one of those detriot locker Nodular case rears. Can not rememeber on the others - I gotta measure them too. Always a decent swap even in the worst of weather....And the weather is always unpredictable.
Parking out to be real interesting with Nebraska playing Colorado in the Devaney Center Sunday at 2pm
I plan to be there way before 2pm. And since ya aren't talking Bug-eater football, I highly doubt there will be any tailgaters to worry about.
Are you guys selling? Gotta get there pretty darn early! I've decided to bring a load of stuff to sell - gonna try to get there around 5 A.M. Malcolm
Hey guys, the best road to get in line to vend is the 27th street entrance. usually the line starts lining up at 2:00am. The 14th street entrance is usually only for spectators. This is how its been in the past. Remember to set your clocks ahead one hour Saturday night to daylight savings time!
Think POSITIVE!! Wasn't it about 70 degrees and sunny down there a week or so ago? I'm hoping for more of the same. Rain, lightning, snow and sleet just kills the urge to buy and it always seems to hit that Sunday.
hmmm, maybe ill walk over. a random note to any one trying to get in from the south, roughly 17th and holdrege, they hit a gas line a couple months ago and the intersection has been a 20 foot hole since. its slowing turning back into a road but dont plan on getting threw to the grounds from that end.
it was like 60 ish and then drope da good 70 deg by the next morning lol. you truely never know whats going to happen
The first swap meet I went to with my dad was a Lincoln swap meet. Here at work, it's fondly remembered as "the ice bowl." The ground was covered in ice and it was soooo cold. Guys were falling right and left, and you couldn't really do anything about it, unless you wanted to go with them. It was a blast though... great times.
