Hey guys, like I mentioned in my intro, I've got no shortage of experience when it comes to metal work, but when it comes to some of the hot rod stuff, I could use a little education. I've restored many old muscle car and have built many custom 30's-60's Harleys and British bikes, but am a complete newbie when it comes to the world of the almighty hot rod. I'm working with a 37' Dodge 1/2 ton thats really pretty clean. Even the original bed and tail gate are straight and rot free. I'd definitely like it lowered and was wondering if there is way to alter the original suspension etc to lower it, or is channeling my best bet? It'll get lowered, chopped a couple inches, and being that I'm a Mopar guy at heart, I'll be replacing the original tired 6 cylinder for an early hemi. Like I said, I know what I want in to accomplish, but I could really use some advice from the guys who know and have been there. I'd really appreciate any info you could post up here. THANKS! lackluster
If dropped spindles and lowering blocks will get you where you want to be, and the stock style suspension is alright with you, try fatmanfab.com I believe they offer dropped spindles that would work. Channeling the body over the frame would get you further. front subframe, i.e. mustang II with airbags front and rear would get you wherever you want to go. There are always several ways to skin a cat. A lot of people here prefer traditional/period correct methods and would rather not use airbags. A custom front axle with extra drop would be an option as well.
Thanks for the info Moper, Anybody have any pics they could post of their pickups along with how much they were dropped, and if it was chopped, how much? I'd like to nail down some of the specifics and what better way than by seeing what others have done, doing some comparison, and making some final decision making? THANKS AGAIN! lackluster
