Ok im in the process of possably buying a 49 Caddy Sedanette which is the one that looks like Chevy's Fleetline ............ Ok i wanna get this baby down in the weeds, so i was thinking if the Caddy has the same width rear springs as a 49 - 54 chevy then why couldnt i buy and install a 4" drop block kit from Chevy of the 40's and on the fronts ? will a set of dropped uprights for a Chevy work, or are the parts different ? ANYONE KNOW ? Any of you guys out there already done a drop on a late 40's early 50's caddy that can lend me some pointers or send me in a direction for parts sources ?
The caddy is totally different then a chevy, the dropped uprights from a olds might work and if it has leaves in the rear the usual blocks will work. The caddys of that era have more in common with buick roadmasters and olds 98s then anything else. Jeff
Back then chevy was on its own for its chassis and suspension, even though pontiac had a very similar body as the chevy the chevy chassis was very different and it stayed the same way up into the late 50s or so. Jeff
