Hi guys, new member here I've got a 1959 Cadillac Sedan De Ville (65,000 original miles) and it has a transmission leak. It was coming from a hole underneath the starter and was a very steady drip. I have removed the transmission to discover that the torque converter needs to be taken apart to get it apart from the rest of the transmission. My question is, other than the front seal, are there any other areas I need to look at for leaks? And when I put the converter back together, do I need to use any sealer between the two halves? It is a hydra-matic by the way. Thanks for the help!
probably gonna have to regasket the front of the ****** its not a converter it is a tarus . that is whats leaking .all the tarus gaskets and seals o rings ya get the picture. also make sure ya re o ring the shaft for the gear selector my buddys is leaking from there after we redid the front of the ******.
It is the torus seal leaking. Buy the front seal up kit from http://www.autotran.us/. It is pretty easy to do, just make sure all parts get put back in the exact same way. One of the gears has a specific front and back so it has to be put in in the same way.
I found this, is this the correct kit that I need? *Front Pump Seal Up Kit, includes the Front Pump Seal, the Pump to Case O'Ring (or Gasket) and Torus Gasket, 1946-1962 (Except the 1946-48 Cadillac below, which is $28.00) Thanks again guys
