I used to buy them all and have backed way off.
Rodders Digest is the most consistant for good stuff.

Rod and Custom because I have read it since the little books that you bought for a quarter.

Rodders Journal because of the quality of the photos and the writing is good. And I am willing to pay for a magizine that doesn't have 70% adds vs editorial content.

I've bought Street Rodder since vol 1 #1 and usually find something interesting in with all the adds what not.

I put a rag back on the stand the other day because it had a (faux patina) how to in it. That one has probabably lost my future business.

I gave all the "lifestyle rodder" rags I had ac***ulated on craigslist the other day. You see one photo of a non running rust bucket sitting in the back row of a rod trot you have seen them all, so I pretty got my fill of that.

A guy has to decide if he gets enough out of the magazine to warrent buying it or suscribing to it. I still get way too many according to my wife.

I like Rodders Journal and the Goodguys Gazette. Both are well worth the cost.

However, I cannot p*** up Hot Rod on ebay when it is something like $5 for 3 yrs or some crazy price like that. I paid just a few dollars for a subscription that just keeps on going.

The other magazines are great too, but I tend to just buy ones I like at the newstands and car shows. Since seeing some of these priced at something on the order of $5.99 plus each, I have stopped buying altogether (at least individual copies).

There is way more reading, tech and info on the web for free...

My list is down to one. The Rodders Journal. Everything else can be flipped through while standing at the rack. P***es the time when shopping with my girl.

I do, however have a subscription to Hot Rod, but hell 3 years AND a hat for $12!? How could I say no?

I'm a magazine junkie. There's only a very few that I think are really good and like. But. I'll take anything I can get when I need a fix.

Rolls & Pleats is the one I wouldn't want to part with. The others have things that spark my interest, but I don't count down the days for a new one to come out. TRJ is a little too artsy for me and usually focuses on Rods more than Customs. Nicely done magazine though.

Rod & Custom, Rodders Journal and Hemmings Motor News are my top three. If any letters in the name are changed from C to a K, or S to a Z, I'll p***. Example: a rag named "Rat Rodz & Kreature Kult" would be banned from my bathroom.:D

Why is it at a news stand there are 3000 "female" type magazines..... and about 15 automotive magazines.

We must be a bunch of cheap *** guys (and girls)......we sure don't support many automotive publishers!

Another way to look at it: Because of my business I receive all the big pub ***les - no ****, 30 to 40 every month free. But I only keep a few - R&C cause Kevin is really trying against all odds, Goodguys cause Kirk is on our team and manages to slip in all the HAMB stuff he can, Street Rodder cause they are starting to turn in the "right" direction, and Custom Cl***ic Trucks & Cl***ic Trucks cause they're the only ***les covering that area.

I PAY for Rodder's Journal, Hop Up and Rod & Kulture. And I would pay for Rolls&Pleats if I was smart enough to figure out how/where to order it :-/

I think the new e-zines like Church, Deadend and SoupUp are great and probably the future of our (and other) narrow interest groups.

Then you would miss out on Traditional Rod and Kulture, one of the best magazines available! My other favorites Rodder's Journal,Hop Up,Rolls and Pleats,Church and Rod and Custom. Street Rodder is also interesting lately since a lot of the coverage is Traditional cars.

This is true, and I found it actually bareable to look at street rodder now but IMO there only on on the traditional kick because that is what brings in the money.
