Can anyone tell me what this rearend came out of so I can tell the 12 year old parts guy? Ford 8", 2.79 Gears(I think). Marked on the tag are: WDW-AB 5EC 2.79 8 555B Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
You might want to try this link. http://www.ridgenet.net/~biesiade/Fordrears.html It gives flang to flange width for particular cars. Thats the only way to get it by guessing.
What I found for that tag is: Ford 8" C2, removable carrier, 2.79:1 ratio (non traction lock) third week of April 1978? The 555B is the plant code. Mustang, Cougar..... Flatman
From the Ford microfiche, I come up with 75 - 78 Granada / Monarch. This one takes the small axle bearings, Ford # D8DZ 1225 B, and medium size diff. bearings, B7A 4221 A cones and B7A 4222 A races. cheers Ed N.
