tail light bulb help, needed...

    whats the best way to get an old light bulb out of its socket? it has alot of hard green/white looking junk all around the base, i tried but it wont move, and i dont want to bust the bulb with my fingers....

    i usually end up busting the glass with a pliers then crush metal part in, grab with needle nose pliers push down and then ccw to get it out

    I am sure there will be other ways of doing this. As long as the car lights are off, I just break the bulb and use pliers on the base.

    try gloves. if it breaks pliers
     
  5. Break the bulb. Knock all the sharp edges down. use the needle nose pliers. Turn it back and fort. Lift out. Clean socket with a small brush. You can get one at the Ace Hardware. Apply lite coat of thin grease and intsall the new buld.

    have used a potato, after you break the bulb, push the potato on the broken bulb and push and turn.the rust penatrant first sounds good. cadillac dave
