what channel was it on? I was lucky enough to see this run too. Jack Harris ran 5.568 at a stunning 263.62 mph in a second-round victory. As he went by Holy S%@# came out of my mouth as he was screaming down the track!
Thanks guys. Apparently I'm the only "Bakersfieldian" that won a class. I heard that they were talking about it on the radio or something but I didn't get to hear it. I did see one of my launches on the news this morning though! I will have pics and video posted in the next day or so.
I wish there were more cars down at the end of the track. Some might of been our fault we were tryin to save a couple of spots for ojai rick so we parked alittle off the fence, but then the give away car parked so noone could get by. lesson learned!
heh, yeah the end of the track was lacking this year in car numbers and that give away car and I think a couple others stuck out like a sore thumb in that area. Next year we plan on bringing out my car (wife will drive it) and my truck. We will be parked down there for sure.
great pics guys here is a link to my pics from the March Meet, 14 pages of them Ron... http://community.webshots.com/album/562746462vDNNEq?start=0 I really liked this setup
did anyone get any shots of the cutout cars, I somehow deleted all my pictures out of my camara. I tried to blame it on the beer, but my wife is blaming it on the whisky. thanx
Thank you for posting the picture of my daughter Rachelle holding John Shoemakers Flag .. This is the flad Judee used to back him up on his last run . He was our dear dear friend and we will miss him forever ...Larry Anderson Vagabond AA/FD
Here are a few shots. First pair of cars down the track on Friday opening day of the show. Me an "Uncle Larry" Sending money into the Bakersfield sky! My oldest daughter was taking these pics and here she tried to catch "the launch". She did do a little better with the video portion. This is from Saturday. Once again I was in the first pair of cars down the track. The guy who sprays the water in the box didn't get it all the way across before they waved me in. The left rear tire was dry and started to grab. I steered the car into the sideways slide but when I let go of the line lock I didn't quite get all the way off of the gas in time so the car hooked and went towards the wall. Fun stuff! http://s159.photobucket.com/albums/t153/shag1933/March Meet 2008/?action=view¤t=HPIM1882.flv This next one is from the 3rd round on Sunday. I was up against a pretty heavy hitter on the VW circut. This Ghia is Hilborn injected and usually runs low 11's. He has a great deal of wins under his belt and can cut a mean light. All that and he shifts the four speed as well. He was dialed at 11.78 to my 11.59, he cut an .016 light but I countered with a .013!!! That was my best light all weekend and it couldn't have come at a better time. I ran past him and apparently he broke or had some kind of problem as he ran a 12.58 and was never near me. I lifted at the end to be sure I didn't break out and ran a 11.78. On to the 4th . http://s159.photobucket.com/albums/t153/shag1933/March Meet 2008/?action=view¤t=HPIM1889.flv That's about all I have right now hopefully I will have some more stuff in the near future.
Mike, I thought you didn't know how to run your computer thingamajiggy? Nice seeing you guys this weekend. Thanks again for the BBQ and hospitality on Saturday night. D.
"Daddy can we stop looking at cars and go watch them PLEASE" was the coolest thing I heard all weekend
Thanks for posting all the pics guys. Sure wish I coulda been there... I'm planning on going to DragFest in May though! Saturday night, I was really sorry to read on here about John Shoemaker's last run....
I copied this from the roll call thread...I made it down there on Sunday! We put the car in Rod & Kulture's booth and everything went real well. Big thanks to Zombie and his crew! By the time I got home it was nearly 48 hours without sleep...and the ROADS on the way down were !@#$ed UP. I spent the daylight hours watching my rail bounce a foot in the air, and the night time hours wondering if it was still back there. KOOKY. There were some badass cars down there and I met quite a few people from the HAMB (awesome). Coby from CHURCH officially became a sponsor and is a damn fine human being as well. All in all it was an insane thrash, but aside from a couple fittings that showed up late and the absence of a 2000 dollar starting system, we're ready to run...er, well, ready except for those things, a fire suit and maybe 5 grand extra at the end of my month!!!!!!! !@#$ man, my car might be a tire smoker, but it ain't "the old days" anymore boys. Big thanks to everybody who helped me get down there! For 8 years folks have been asking me "Are you gonna be at the --------- with your cars Tim?" and I never knew for sure, but it was always, "We're shooting for the '04 CHRR" or "Maybe we'll be at the '06 March Meet." I hear Saturday was the day to be there, but I was widening my trailer axle and drinkin' coffee by the pot that day! Sunday had to do and it was great. Next step is catching up on parts bills, setting up a ford snout starter and finding a fire suit and fuel mask. - Fuelers Forever, Conder
