Saturday night at the Krawl we got the opportunity to watch the video for the first time. Way too kool. Joe "the Fonz" Carloni building a chopped Buick in his driveway, lighting his cigarettes with a welding torch, with a rope tied from the doorhandle to his garage to actually hold his garage up! Narrated by Joe hisself. Welding and working on the car in his driveway in the snow. It is a cl***ic of cl***ics.

One of the guys in our group mentioned that he had three other tapes. I've only heard of the one tape.

    Is there more???

    I need, I need, I need!!!!

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

I think we have up here, His last kustom buick as told to me, and I have seen it, it looks exactly like the one in your photo, but it never made paint, it's pretty far gone now, rust and bondo, but its still got it's Radir's and whitewalls. I know I've got photos of it, I'll see if I can post them.

I know "The Fonz" has been discussed before on the HAMB, but I think he
deserves another post. I've never met the guy, but the stories that I've been
told, sounds like he had the right at***ude towards our hobby.

He had a lot of fun.
    he knew what was Kool.
Didn't kustomize his cars and worry about approval of others.
He was blessed by having a lot of friends.

That would be kool to see more pictures of his old Buick in whatever state it is in. Thanks again.

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

Hey guys....Greetings from Long Branch,N.J.Americas first seashore resort.
I am proud to say I knew the late Joe ''The Fonze'' Carloni for many years and
he was really what it was all about...Straycatkustoms you got it right!
Stories,so many stories....like when he moved away from the jersey shore down to the Virginia area and how one day Jimmy ''The Jersey Torch''(currently a racer at Wall Speedway in the pickup truck division) driving one of his chopped flame throwing low rider fords and the late Bob ''The Jersey Kid'' Rogers in his gray prime and flamed ford powered '34 ford coupe went around the corner to get coffee and somehow kept going until they got to Fonzies place down south ....
Or how Joe would put a show together for charity at it seemed like a moments notice in some parking lot or dead end street and have a good turnout of cars and spectators.
Or maybe the time Fonzie parked one of his chopped Mercs on the street in front of a big time dealership sponsored car show and half the people inside the building came out to look at his car....made me smile....but not the mine is better than yours guys who had their cars on display inside the building....
or how about the time I was talking to some guys at a major outdoor show and and Fonzie drove by with one of his trademark drop tops with the plaque s****ing the ground and somebody make some remark about the car only to be reminded by somebody else ''YOU GOT TO GIVE IT TO HIM,THE PEOPLE LIKE HIM AND HIS CARS....HE'S GETTING THE ATTENTION NOT US'' one more time I laughed to myself and walked away.
Or maybe the time when a couple of girls ask him if they could get their picture taken by the car and Joe said Sure go ahead you can sit on the fenders if you want to....shows,parades giving rides to kids and DRIVING IT like it was supposed to drivin.
I last saw Mary Ann at Lead East with Joe (Misty Blue) Urspruch,Eddie and Jimmy Trocchia, guys that I have known for too many years to even think about.
JOE CARLONI ....HAPPY TO HAVE KNOWN YOU
    So Many Stories....

Thanks Lee for the inside stories and welcome aboard the HAMB.

I've had the opportunity to meet a lot of legendary kustom guys and I'm very
thankful for that. Number one on my list that I hadn't, would be "The Fonz."
Years ago, Terry Cook was going to do a Lead East type of show in Kentucky.
It was a no brainer to start planning to go when I heard that Joe was going to be
there. Sad to say the show was cancel'd.

    Happy trails,

    Mick

Here are a couple of shots of the "Misty Blue" Merc mentioned by uncleleo that I took in August of this year at our weekly Beacon Street cruise. Joe Urspruch and MaryAnn Carloni have started an annual "Rememberance Cruise" in memory of "The Fonz" to honor all deceased hotrodders.

As far as I know, there was only one tape with him building a car. There are some flamethrower tapes floating around that are mostly him at lead east. Maybe thats what they were talking about.
