Yes! Now it's mine! New Yorker, black interiour 392 Hemi. Maybe the best designed car of the 50's. It will be one of the meanest snake cruisers around!!! I need new front seats though, somebody installed a late model bench. Oh no!

I can't believe it that I finally get this one! I talked the owners ears off for nearly 2 years. Finally his wife told him he has to sell it! I love women sometimes! :D

That's the style I want to have it when finished. Cliff Inmann's crazy ride.
Anyone more pictures of it, or know how to get more?
There used to be a '57 Chrysler Kustom like it in Denmark I believe.
I could not find anything good while googling...
Any pictures of cool '57 s are more than welcome!!!

Any other '57/'58 Mopar guys here?

Thanks! I rilly have to proove myself this time!
I have quite a few projects that never end...
But the good thing here is, that the condition is pretty much decent, and so I hope to make faster moves this time.;)

Allow me to say - [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]!!

You're right, it is one of the best looking cars ever set on the streets. Yours looks really solid and nice, is it a driver? I hope you've got some of the parts not shown in the picture, the trim is really hard to come by anymore. I've got an extra factory 6-way power front seat, I'll be putting a set of '60 Chrysler power swivel seats in mine. ;) I'd really like to see that black interior, I don't know that I've ever seen a NYer with anything but tan or gray interior. Any rust issues? I don't see any!

By the way, I know how you feel man - I just found one too. Here's mine.

I'm dropping a stock '55 Imperial 331 Hemi in it for now, as the 392 has "issues." This is just to get it on the road. Once I can get the 392 back together it will go back in. My interior is really bad but the body could not be more solid. I've found one spot of rust, in the trunk, and it's not big enough to stick a pencil through.

Enough about mine - congratulations to you! Great score. :D

Wow!!! U'r my new friend! :D (By the way, I always loved u'r avatar and signature! ;) )

What a great looking Yorker u've got! And those wheels!!!! "Thimbs up!!"

Yes, the trim is all there. And rust seems also not to be a problem. The interiour isn't too fancy, but I can live with that.
It's driving, but the trans is bleeding badly. Hmmm. I hope that I'll find parts for it over here.

I will take more pictures tomorrow and put 'em here!

Do u have more of u'rs?

The swivel seat idea is a good one. But they even harder to come by over here.
I'm thinkin' of early GM Buckets, with the Chrome surrounding...

    Cheers!

The only other pictures I have at the moment are on my Photobucket account. These were the pictures I took the day I went to look at it, before I bought it. hahahaaaa

It's been cleaned up a good bit since then, still got a long way to go. ;)

Wait a little. If the radio starts to play old songs, then u know.... :D

Cool! I can almost smell the old interiour! Nothing smells better than a old car! Not even a woman! :D:D:D

Cool I usually do not like the chrome trim a lot, but on u'rs it's great. With the black layout it works fine! Stance is great, too!
And I dig that sunburned roof and old primer spots togehter with the new wheels'n'rubber. This is very cool, and unique. Only time can build sth. like this!
    Where did u find it?

Those are awsome cars. I hope to get one in the next couple of years; even one as late as a '64 can be pretty cool. But those cars y'all have got...the ***iest finned cars ever built!

Actually it's factory light gray with a maroon in the side spear and roof. It's eventually going to get nice paint, this stuff just takes time. :D You're not the first to say they like the body all ****py with nice wheels. haha

Looks like a great start! I gotta say the stock grille does it for me more than that tube one, though.

Here's a New Yorker from my youth. Gennie survivor with 23K
miles and 1957 air in the original spare. Safely tucked away
for now, someday it will be mine. This thing idles so smooth and
quiet the only thing you hear is the brushes in the generator!
We searched for some material for the drivers side seat insert
about 20 yrs. ago with no luck, anybody with any ideas please
shoot them my way. Great car, look foward to seeing your
    progress.

Here's mine - a '58 2 dr HT, dual quad 392, shaved, nosed, decked, lowered 2" rear 3" front, 300C front bumper, 57 taillights. Color is 'retina searing red', www, custom 7" & 8" Chrysler wires. Will have tube grille and 300 C/D side spears - been working on it on and off since 1996. It's kinda like an unchopped red version of the Joe Wilhelm/Cliff Inman car.

Cliff Inmann's car had a 2 page article in Petersen's "Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge" softbound book from about 1973. i think i read that thing cover to cover about 350 times from the time i was 9 until i was 16.

Wow, you guys are making me slobber on the keyboard. Those are all amazing cars. Likely the best looking finned cars ever. I'm jealous but I'm still happy for you guys.

Just a quick note here: the Joe Wilhelm/Cliff Inman car is actually based on a 1958 Chrysler. The giveaway is the bubble windshield and lack of header/peaked visor. This windshield first came out on the 1957 convertibles (only) and was then carried over to all the 1958 Chryslers and de Sotos.

Neat. I think the Clif Inman car is not only the best-looking of that style of Chrysler, I think it's one of the best looking customs of all time.

If I had your car I'd use the upper piece of stock side trim and leave the lower one off.

  27. Mate, the motors all wrong for that, send it to me and I will take care of it for you.

Only because Im such a nice guy..................

Ps, SWEET car and I love the style you are going for.

There u go!!!!! Great Balls o' Fire!!!!

    I take my hat off!

Great that there are so many
    57's still out!

  30. Hey, if you do end up chopping it bear in mind that big back window is scarce as hell and easily broken, or so a guy with a 300 told me a few years ago who didn't blink at giving me $250 for one I pulled out of a rotty '58 Saratoga hardtop. The car's frame/body didn't look bad, but when a guy with me stood on the bumper of the car the top of the window popped out a good inch and a half.
