The Two Lane Blacktop 55 is here in Maryland and gets brought out to the local cruise-ins every once in a while

Last i remember, it no longer has the plex windows and i believe the cage was taken out. I havent seen it out in the last year or two but it is here, just no longer easily recognizable as the car from the movie

Another trick I remember was replacing the window with a single piece of plexiglas with straps attached to the bottom edge that were used to pull it up or let it down and when they wanted to latch the window in the up position they hooked the ends to the inside of the door. Crude but lightweight and functional.

  6. I had a 62 MG midget and it had a aluminum window frame that attached with 2 knobs and it had sliding plexiglass windows,,,did they leak,,,you betcha,,,,noisy,,damn right.

The car was a cheap POS but was a blast to drive,,,I never saw them on anything except the 55 in two lane blacktop. HRP

The strap a lot of people have mentioned can also be a seat belt. Put the buckel at the bottom of the door to hold it in the Up position, push the button (or lift the hasp for an aircraft-style belt) and let the window down.
That's what I'll be doing on mine.

Well, the Brits used to do this stuff a lot, and they just lived with a little water inside. (the weather's great over there, ya know)

And I thought the old school definition of a sportscar was a little spindly, noisy, rattling, beast of a machine.

You think sportscars are quiet? Ever been to a SCCA regional?
Most sound like snarling and barking little pointy-teethed dogs, or an angrily buzzing ball of hornets flying around the circuit.

Hot rods ain't the only thing loud (or leaky) on the road or the track, get real.
