In my humble opinion, radiator support rods totally **** up flow through an engine compartment. On a radically altered type of ch***is (like yours :) ) with a channeled body (that's you again) the supports rods will not travel front to rear in the same plane as the valve cover, gets very confusing to the eye, divergent angles. I more or less refuse to use them.

Chadillac is on the right track. I did similar on my 34, but came off the shock mounts/headlight stands instead of the frame.

We just ran some steel rod (actually a piece of Model A brake rod) to a bracket on the side of the radiator. It is pretty stable....has alot of miles on it with no problems. In this photo the grille shell isn't on the car but it partially covers the support rods.

My thoughts exactly, you don't want a couple rods throwing off the lines of the engine.... just my .02...

This is how I did it.
The adjustable support rod is not mounted to the aluminium radiator at all, but the the steel schroud.
And the steel schroud isn't hanging on the aluminium radiator either. It stays on its own bracket at the bottom. Because of this it ain't causing any stress on the radiator.
