Greetings from Calgary,Alberta,Canada. Well I've been snoopin around this site here for a couple days now and finally figured I should introduce myself to you all. I'm a 46 year old kid that works in the construction industry framing houses by day, come nightfall you'll find me out in the garage tinkerin on my project that I started some 5 years ago.(Time seems to fly by when you enjoy what your doin) The project is a 38 Dodge RC (pickup),which when I got it was in a field in puzzle form, a cab sitting on a mashed up frame with the fenders(also mashed),hood, grill, tailgate all in the pickup box. The family thought I was crazy, but hell I already knew that. First order of business was to kick out all the little critters that called the truck home, then get the box and cab off the frame to see what was salvageable. Not much was, 1 cross member and the rear frame rails under the box was all. With some new metal, alot of welding and grinding,VIOLA, a fully boxed frame. To that frame I put a Jag IRS and a custom IFS from TCI. Powering the IRS is a SBC 350/th400 (why: it was sitting on the floor,in my way, as all this takes place in a single car garage.)Next was on to the body, not wanting to go with fibergl*** replacements, with hammer and dolly in hand, mig in the other, bang bang, stich stich, I suprised myself. After finishing the interior I now have a truck ready for the streets, minus finish paint. The only thing left is the red tape to legalize it so I'll be calling on the local H.A.M.B'rs to help me with this process. This looks like a great site, wished I woulda stumbled on it when I first started as I've seen alot of good and usefull info and everyone gets along, I've seen no squabling between hotrod vs ratrod, original vs modified, like most other sites, nice to see that information is shared and not sold. Lets keep it this way! Enough of my ramblings, If you happen to see me on the streets (red oxide with black fenders and boards) give me a honk or a wave and I'll be sure to return the gesture.
Welcome to the board! Got any pics of your 38? I'm just starting a 37 Dodge pickup and can't wait to start seeing mine take shape. Good luck with your ride! lackluster
