Harder than you'd expect. Didn't GM use these early on? Filled with wire stuff, push and turn install (NOT push into a grommet) Any ideas, NOT billet (of course) This would replace the oil fill cap on the front of the 250 in the '50 Burb, so the PCV can breathe. Nobody around here seems to have one...............
Carquest has part CCA #36006 twist oil cap w/ mesh inside and a 1" dia. hole in the center of the top. It's listed as a crankcase breather cap for 60's Ford Fairlane, Falcon, etc. Hope this helps. Kevin
I've seen lots of cheap chrome breather caps like what you want. It has a little flat bar of blued spring steel riveted to the nose end. You stick it in and turn it about 1/4 turn and it locks in and seals with a cork gasket. I think I remember buying some from PAW before, also Kragens. It might be a TransDapt or Mr. Gasket part. They're all made in Taiwan or China, and I think they're usually only about $5 or $6.
Yeah, that's the one I'm thinking of. If your hole has those two notches for the retainer bar thing, that's the one you need.
Yeah, thats it! Thanks guys! My NAPA guy acted confused, I'll just give him the part # directly. You all are the best! Cheers,
