Hello everyone. My name is Steve Mitchell. I've been reading the posts here on and off for a while now.It seems this is one of the last places to get info on older cars. I have a 62 Impala 2 door hardtop as my daily driver. I don't know much but I've been learning.Anyway, I moved to TX last year from PA. I was lucky to meet Outlaw, and a couple other Kontinentals whose HAMB ID's I don't know(sorry fellas, no disrespect). I don't know if it's against protocol to ask a question in your first post, but here goes: I replaced my rear drive axle with one from a 64 and now my brake drum is rubbing the backing plate. Also the drum wont break free of the axel hub. How can I get the drum off, and is there a way to stop the rubbing without getting the drum trimmed, for example some spacers or some such thing?I hope I haven't insulted anyone by asking questions so soon. Thanks to anyone who can help.
<It seems this is one of the last places to get info on older cars. > Well it's one of the last places any SANE person would look to get info on old cars. So I guess that tells us something about you. LOL Score another Texan. Well, you're almost a Texan I guess. Let's not mention that PA thing again shall we? Welcome to the HAMB, Big Daddy Eric

Thanks guys, for the welcome. Shaun, thanks for the list. I am the Zamboni driver for the local hockey team here in Austin. Some friends started calling me zamboni about nine years ago. It's a cool job, but it doesn't get me any chicks.
I hardly ever check the "intro" posts anymore, but when I saw the username I knew it must be you. Welcome to the HAMB. For reference, I'm the Steve with the '31 coupe we were looking at last week at the Little Longhorn. Krupa (Shaun) is the other guy that was out there talking about '32 frames with us.

Zamboni, huh? Well, I know they aren't what ya'd call traditional, as in hot rods, but you ain't lived until you've put one of these babies into a full-speed side-ways drift, with all four of the hydraulic-driven, studded snow tired wheels scrabbling for traction on a perfectly smooth, flat sheet of ice...WHA-HOOOO! Ask me how I know Oh, yeah, welcome to the HAMB!
Yeah, it's me. Trying to make my daily dilema back into my daily driver. I think I got it licked now. Thanks for the welcome.
mitch, whats up dude? not sure that i can help you with your problem,, try those spacers if they stop the rubbing then yer all set. they are fine to use. anyway glad to see you on here.. -jeff
take a big fucking hammer and hit the drum at the rim it should pop right off the axle. use the correct year drum for your backing plate and shoes.
