Things to do in GA?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 37hotrod, Mar 15, 2008.

  1. Well, it looks like I'm finally going. I will be spending three 1/2 months in Georgia for training. I will be in Brunswick, Ga from April 3-July 16. Are there any HAMB worthy events nearby? I will probably only have weekends free, and short travel times are a must. Let me know if I have anything to look forward to while I'm there. Thanks.

  2. Well, Run What Ya' Brung is end of May(?).
There's the swap meet at Lanier Speedway the first Sunday of every month with a two day show in July (Bring your Pinewood Derby cars).
Don't forget the Micro Car Museum in Madison, GA.
From Brunswick you could hit Garlits in Ocala/Wildwood, FL.
HAMB and GRITS 1st and 3rd Sunday in Roswell at the Skillet.
Coupla HAMBr's in the Brunswick - Augusta area.

    Define "Short" driving distance

  3. Location: Smart Ass White Boy In Mississippi

Yup, that about sums it up.
If you bring a canoe, don't forget your crossbow...or a tube of KY.

I can't think of any events, other than the ones that Stevie mentioned. You might want to see what's going on in Jacksonville since it's not too far from Brunswick. I spent half my childhood there and it's pretty much a crappy little town. They have ok beaches and nice golf courses though. Are you training at FLETC?

In short. The best thing to do in Georgia is to plan your next trip to somewhere else.

  16. Hey Lil' Billy, Yes I'm training at the FLETC. I'm probably flying in, so I'll be without my own wheels. I'll be bumming rides to any of the events I go to. I wasn't going to be the first to bring up the whole banjo thing, but...
Hey Showrod, come over to the house and fix my plumbing. We'll talk about the car then.

If you are on St.Simons Island any, stop by Murphy's Tavern.
A small hole in the wall down by the pier, owned by a former roommate of mine.

Now I am not sure if you will catch him there,as he owns the place, and does the managing of it.

Sez he is tired of being in the bar every night!

Lots of stuff to see on St. Simons, and a boat trip to Cumberland Island is worthwhile,if you want to see some cool wilderness.
