nash battery possitive or neg ground

    im working on my moms nash for the first time in a long time and i am just making shure if its a pos or neg ground. it looks to be neg. but i just want some one to tell me to make shure

    if its in the real early fifties and back i would say probably so. positive ground

    Put the cables on and turn on the lights. If the amp gauge shows "charge", they're backwards.

    i did a google search and Jay Leno has a 59 Nash that is a positive ground. so i say positive ground!

    most everyone went negative ground around 55 &56. Look at the cable ends, the positive cable has a larger diameter.

    Early 50's are Pos ground. They ground them to the Engine block. follow the cables from the battery. Which ever side goes to the starter the opposite is the ground.

    If its 6 V pre 56 it is likely positive ground. Good advice to look at the amp gauge with the light on or with the brake pedal depressed it should show a slight discharge if all is well. Car will run either way but it will screw up the points faster if polarity is reversed. Speaking of which the + lead in teh coil shoul go to the points for a positive ground system.

    agree that 55/56 was for the most part the 12V neg ground years, but I own 53 willys aero and it has negative ground. Find out the year and we'll go from there. The ammeter trick works too.
