I'm with Jim on this too, once people are singled out,you start the one-up manship, that can stay with the street rod crowd. Now a "car hall of fame"would be a better idea, because everyone appreciates the quality rides. Also, everyone think an archive, for the "Historical Photo" threads would be a good idea? Since a lot of effort and research is put into them,it seems a shame to have them disappear. They also make great research material for new builds.;)

Let me be clear, I was only talking about CARS going into the "Hall of Fame". Not the car builders. Obviously, some guys just crank out mind blowing stuff all the time. But at no point did I think it should be about the builder. It's all about the cars.

I have to agree. When it comes to PURE Hot Rod its Jimmy Whites coupe and all of his builds. I also like Zach Suhr's builds . Of course I am partial to Rusty ( Dirty31) builds !!!

  6. i have to agree on all of the above ...

I agree with Blasted, Kevin Lee, 3wLarry and the few others. For one, we already know who the bad*** builders are around here. It's obvious when they share the progress of their builds on the board and we get to see the finished rides. I think they get a good amount of recognition around here for their talent and hard work. And justifiably so.

Plus, Hall of Fames are generally for has beens. I know that there are exceptions. But they are usually to recognize great performers after they are done performing. These are builders that are still building great cars. And many of the cars continue to change and progress as well.

So yeah, I think it's cool to look back and admire the cars we've seen built by HAMBer's through the years. But the archives does a great job of it already without seperating the board between gods and motals.

What about the new kids who have never heard of any of these "greats"...
Not all of the good info resides in the Archives.
I going to do some searches right now, based on the names I've read above, that I have not heard of.

Nocturnal is kind of making my point for me. If you remember, 3wLarry selling his 3 window, and it leaving the HAMB was the impetus for this thread. Anyone who joins the HAMB tomorrow is not likely to ever get a chance to see that car.

And I think that there are some cars that just deserve to be seen, and new members deserve the chance to see them as well.

Especially considering that I envision the "Hall of Fame" including, alot more build pics and tech info than hero worship. Remember, it should be about the car, not the builder.

  13. Bobby Green's stuff...

Problem is, I don't quite know how we would set the criteria...overall styling...part selection...then eventually it will turn into just another damn car show judging.

Yep. I agree. I can see a place for nice builds to be archived for others to get inspiration from though.

There are some that are good at finding and offering up vintage parts for others also which are as important as those who can buld a killer car IMO. If you can't fnd the pieces you can't get the car built.

Those who have the answers are invaluable here also.

At first I thought this was a bad idea...because there's way too much cool stuff and cool cars on here.

Maybe if it was treated more of an index than a hall of fame. Post a picture or two of the car and links (or whatever you call them) to the build threads. Now that would be cool. People would see a car they like and could go to the build pics that have been lost in the great sea of posts.

I think Clark nailed it, an index rather than a "Hall of Fame"... I can get behind this idea....

Just think of what you just said, [ quot: "people would kill to get into the hall of fame if that was the case!"] .. no if you kill to get in, then the guy you kill would be nominated to get in, and not you, unless the guy you kill is your, then you would be nominated to the hall of shame and inducted to the hall of shame. just my 2 cents...

I'm with Blasted, very well said, no need to say anymore.

Clark, your idea has alot of merit as well.

There are a lot of neat, well thought out cars here on the HAMB than just the handful of builders/owners mentioned in this thread.

C'mon, I built my car for me, not others. Am I alone here? Quite frankly if others like what I did, fine but I really don't give a rat's *** if anyone else likes it or not. IMHO building a car just for the props = lame.

i got what tragic59 was saying,,more of a way to rember some of the cool hamb cars that were built and became well known because of their constant updates, like mentioned before, the roachrod is probably the best example of this,...many of the cars mentioned early on in this post are not even around anymore, dont exist or just plain fell off the face of the earth....

maybe "hall of fame" is too strong of a ***le that obviously ,a few people
have gotten their fellings hurt..maybe from now on when someone post a pic of their project ,no one should reply because others might get their feelings hurt if more people reply to ones project than another persons project...

.but would be cool to have maybe a thumbnail gallery with a pic of certain cars that meet what ever criteria Ryan and his crew come up with..more of a way of remebering cars that may not be around here anymore....

oh well,,it will probably never work anyways, nobody can ever even somewhat agree on anything,,,and also because most people would all want to nominate their own cars or cars not even from the hamb....haha

i agree also with ya,why dont we just have a pic gallery instead, its sort of a hall of fame for the guys that have their heads in the clouds as well as a place for the hard workin joe shmoe to put theirs as well

    my 2 cents worth

Don't fix it if isn't broke.

  28. I am relatively new here and when the originals refer to a members certain ride I can only envision the car. To be able to look up in an index as to what the car actually looked like would be good reference material. I,m all for an index of past rides.Beats searching for hours and not knowing if the car pic you found is the actual one referred to.
