ok so first post for me, so hang on if this doesn't work. this is the first kit I've made combination of a revell deuce and the outlaw with a drag twist, project isn't finished but well on the way. always loved kits so took the plunge.

  3. I guess the question is: Am I late for last week or early for this week?

Since I finally got this thing done, I figured some of you might like to see it. Now I guess I need to get stuck in and finish the model A coupe.

A few kits died to build this one. Engine is the blown Olds from Roth's Beatnik Bandit. Rear wheels and tyres from little Coffin, Rear axle from 'The Parts Box' front axle & 4 bar from Scale Dreams, used the disc brakes that came with them on the rear axle.

Front wheels and tyres I picked up at Pagasus Hobbies, unknown brand and I can't find anything an any kit that matches them.

The exhaust headers were on the Beatnik Bandit chrome tree, but are not used in that kit. To make them fit, I had to modify the flanges so they mount to the engine opposite to how they were originally designed. The scoops on the carbs are from Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland. Getting the headlamps to sit right on the stands was a total pain. In the end I used epoxy, waited for it to become almost set and then sat them in place, seems to have done the job.

  4. After shooting pics in the garage, the car was loaded on the trailer (hey it's a '60s showcar!) and taken to a studio for the pro to do a magazine shoot. ;)

The paint doesn't show at it's best in photos but I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out, as it changes depending on how the light hits it. The base is white primer and colour started as Testors Lime Green Pearl, decanted from spray-can and mixed with my own blend of gold metalflake and red pearl powder.

these are awsome, i remember when i used to do cool **** like this 20 years ago, i cant even help my kid out on his model as i screw something up because i cant see that small stuff anymore

THAT WHY I WENT TO FULL SIZE CARS TO MODEL AND DETAIL

great job guys, might someone be interested in doing a model for cash???

  7. It might depend on what you wanted built?
Wanting a model of your current project?

  8. Trouble is, I can't have all the full sized cars I want, not enough space or money and I need spectacles to see what I'm doing on either. So I wear the regular spec's for the big cars and have extra thick ones plus more lighting for the little ******s. :D :D

  9. That's why I always buy at least two or more of every kit. Funny you should mention the lakester, coz here's what I started yesterday.

Front axle from RM Deuce roadster (the old fully fendered one), front wheels from RM '40 Coupe, tyres from my parts dept, Rear tyres also from my parts dept, moon discs from The Parts Box as is the vintage Halibran quick change rear axle. Blower and scoop from the Revel 427 Ford engine parts pack. Still looking for haipin radius rods, steering linkage may have to be fabricated, I'm thinking cowl mount.

  13. Kind of resembles "Coupe de Race".
Jim Bells car I think. Little stretch to the hood without the slit he had in front for cooling.

  14. Body is resin of unknown origin, however chop appears to replicate So Cal Speed Shop coupe. Nose is too long to be copy of Jim Ewing's Superbell coupe, so I'm not sure if it's a copy of any existing car or just made up. It had large NACCA style scoops in the hood sides which I filled in.

Body appears to be designed as a slammer with no provision for interior, engine or drivetrain and took a lot of time with the dremell to make room for these things. Will feature aluminium belly pan modelled after So Cal Coupe, with lots of louvres if I can figure out a way to do them.

If you have a pic of the car you say it resembles, I'd appreciate seeing it, may give me some more ideas, especially for paint.

    Thanx
