Well it isnt an A on duece rails or anything but heck he is only six months old!!! I figured I needed something to drag the kid around all the shows in and regular wagons are just boring. This has been a fun project but I cant wait to get it done, just a few brackets, some tie rods and its off to paint, chrome and upolstrey. I know its alittle accessive but when you hang around Plowboys shop your brain starts to get warped and you have these crazy visions in the middle of the night, not to mention the urge to spend way too much money on things that make other people wonder what youve been smoking. So there it is, I will post some pics when its finished and those of you running around the midwest this summer just might get to see my little hell raiser tearin up the pavement in it.

The wheels are scooter wheels from a bycicle shop in town, they are nice aluminium wheels with super smooth bearings, it rolls so easy!!

Rat rod piece of ****! Just kidding! :) That's cool...I have a flat black one with a Mexican blanket that I used to drag around the swapmeets a few years ago, it even has a real eight-ball for the handle. It's a jinx though...I never found anything cool to carry in it when I took it to the swaps!

  14. Coolest rug rat hauler I ever saw.

Good thinking, out of the box for sure, but that's what hot rodding is all about.

One very real advantage, not too far down if the kid falls out.

One bad thing, cut the threaded spindle/axle pieces down so they don't stick out so far or people are going to be cutting themselves up on them.

    Well done.

Well its not exactly a rat rod, just in progress. I still have to build the steering linkage, that will be a basic tie rod setup like a car and will atach to the pivot point on the handle giving the same ratio as the spindals so the wheels follow the same angle as the handles.I also have to cut off the axles and make some kinda cool center caps. It is 1 3/4" off the ground in the front and about 2 3/4" at the back of the tub so not far to fall at all. And Aaron I am not sure if this will haul a big enough cooler in the bed for you, I guess I could build a trailor for that!!! Oh dont worry either you will get to work on my car soon enough, beilive that holmes!!!!

  23. May I suggest you make the steering linkage slower than 1 to 1.

Perhaps 2 to 1 if you have the room.

Makes it a lot easier to tow.
Most wagons have a single pivot up front so they can turn very sharply.

Nice part about the kingpin setup is, even at full deflection of the steering apparatus the wagon is still very stable with all four points stabilizing things.

And . . . when the little peedinker is two years old and very happy at car shows I'd inventory the beer supply on the back of the wagon....:D

man.. I always did think normal wagon's were too high. My lil sis prolly has the scars on her elbows to show it too!!! Takin corners in a town n country wagon sure was fun though :) Gotta do something similar... but I'm thinking wood :) That's truly an awesome wagon. Love it

Way cooler than the one I built for my son about 40 years ago. It had the leftovers of 3-4 wagons that were salvaged off the curb the night before trash pickup. We had a steep driveway about 50 yards long that ended in the backyard for a runoff. When it was finished there were about 20 neighbor kids around most weekends to take rides. Some of them brought their compe***ion with them but I don't think the "kid" was ever beaten.:)

About eight years ago I built this wagon for my daughter. An old 1950's Murray, and I added the soap box derby wheels. Lowered the axles so it sat about six inches lower than stock, even with the taller wheels. And it rolls FAST!
