Just got a little update on Pat. Anyone on here that is of the praying sort, Lets say a few prayers for Pat and Cole. Alright.
That's the least we can do for all the enjoyment they have both provided for us..... Thanks for the support and info.
Not much of the praying kind here, but will have them in our thoughts for sure. Pat showed us all how it was done many times.........our best wishes to all of the Foster family........ Mark and the rest of the Texas Thunder bunch
Absolutely. Well wishes for Pat, Cole, and the entire Foster family and friends network. Keep fighting the good fight.
I found this posted on another site earlier today. Thought I'd pass it along. Hello - I just got off the phone with Pat Foster's sister Linda and she said that the doctors told Pat yesterday that they have done all they can for his lung issues, heart and artery damage and kidney damage. He would never regain his legs. Pat made the decision yesterday to go with dignity and stop all the poking and prodding. He is now in the Kootenai Medical Center Oncology ward where he has "comfort" medications. Address is: 2003 Lincoln Way, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814. According to Linda, his sons Cole and JT are there with him now, Danny will be coming in Thursday. He is alert and talking right now, although hallucinations are coming more frequently. He says he is up walking around at night - to us that is a sign that he wants to be free again. Linda said the end may come in a week, two weeks or maybe a month. It's up to Pat and she said he feels peaceful and empowered by his decision to let go. We left the hospital Sunday night upset by his depression and frustration; he was struggling mightily with his condition and loose ends he needed to tend to before he "let go". He is so stubborn and continued to fight a fight that he could never win, although 2 weeks ago he was wheeling around in a wheelchair and eating solid foods. We left his hospital room for Bakersfield with great expectations of recovery only to be dashed the night we flew back into Spokane and saw that his health had taken a terrible turn. Tonight, knowing that Pat is at peace and able to make his own decision (and eat whatever the hell he wants too, more or less) our hearts are heavy but our minds are light. He is still able to have visitors. Don Trasin was there today and Cindy Gibbs-Arias will be there tomorrow with Brendan Murray. We showed him pictures from Bakersfield and he smiled when he saw the pic of Cindy and Randy Fish hamming it up at the booth. We were able to pass on his "hellos" to just about everyone that he asked us to look up while at the March Meet. He got a huge grin when we unfurled the signed 1320 banner in his hospital room, still full of track dust. The neatest smile we saw was on Sunday afternoon when his son Cole walked into his room. THAT was cool. We will try to get back up to see him one last time, especially since the last thing I did before we left Sunday night was swirl his hair up in a nuggee and told him it would be OK. I kinda need to hug him now to make up for messing his hair... As far as media publication, we are letting the family and Pat decide what they will want to print. He did get to see the story about him in National Dragster yesterday and he liked it very much. We did a story on him with the Candies and Hughes build and also sent in a story on the Billy Lynch dragster build to the magazine that we and Dick Kalivoda share space in, CruZin' Magazine, out of Seattle. The Billy Lynch story was 99% completed and Pat and I edited it and sent it in 2 days before his aorta dissection at Thanksgiving. Ted, when the article comes out, I will be sure that Billy gets a copy. Take care and keep the Nostalgia fuelers in the forefront for this generation and keep Patty in your hearts, Annette and Sandie Pullman, WA
When I had heart surgery a year and a half ago Patty kinda talked me through it - and one of the things he told me was, "Keep a handle on things - ya ain't just along for the ride"... We're all gonna get outa here some day - and it'll be too soon for sure - - Pat's keeping things on his tearms and, 'keeping a handle on it' - - He's still the guy in the hat and silver suit doing the driving... Foster is in my thoughts Fred
THANK YOU all for your care and concern for Patty and his family. I told Dawn earlier that I wondered if there was Nitro in Heaven. If not, Buttera, Shoemaker and Foster were gonna get bored and who knows where that will go! We will all get "Change of Address" notices for the three of them from the Big Guy. We are sad but at peace that he will trailer up when he wants to, not at the direction of someone else. I have to say that the best sight I have seen in a long, long time was his big ol' smile when Cole walked into his hospital room last Sunday. We don't know how many more days, weeks or months we may have with him but we know his family will be okay. He loves his three boys more than anything and is spending time with them now. Thanks to all who are extending wishes, prayers and thoughts to Pat and his family. We are passing them along. - Annette
Godspeed Pat. And thanks to the Fosters for all of the entertainment, education and inspiration... Scotty
