Ryan mentioned he loved Arduns...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Fox Valley Hot Rods, Mar 19, 2008.

  1. Well, thought I'd share a few pictures of the one I'm working on with my dad. It's for a customer and should be finished up soon. The blower has not been gone through yet and the carbs are still to be done but I wanted to take a few "in progress" pictures along the way. :)

It has a one-off S.Co.T. Ardun intake on it. Vertex mag, 4 inch crank and so on...

Are those new heads? Look like Luke Balough tube nuts. Is the intake old, or a new piece? It doesn't look used at all. Quite a find.

That engine makes my engine look stupid.

  5. They are in-fact the new heads. As for the intake, it's new and custom made. The original 2 piece intake manifolds were used as a template to make this intake. It was a real ****** to fit to the heads. Hours and hours of work to get them to fit just right. The block is a 59A L block head and we had to deck it ever-so-slightly and that made for quite an ordeal fitting that blower intake. Plus, just bolting it on is a pain because the spacing for everything is so tight. Oh, and the blower is the big SCoT not the smaller one used on most flatheads. This one was for the Caddy and Olds engines.

  6. Dugbred,

I don't know of anyone who makes them, but I can get you header plates if you find you have the time to build your own?

Matt are the bigger S.C.o.T's as "rare" as the smaller flat head version?
Or are they made / exist of even more "unobtainium?! :D :D

Now that is a very kool engine! Looks like you guys do nice work.
When you say "new" heads, do you mean N.O.S. or repro? I don't know too much about Ardun kits, but from what I can see the tappet covers don't have the (early type) made in England plaque.

Hey Matt. Way cool....... What's the only thing better than one Ardun? How about two? These belong to our mutual friend (who makes the header flanges). I wasn't sure if you and your dad had seen pictures of his collection. Throw in the Dixon for good measure.

Looks very good and nothing sounds better than a blown Ardun. I have question though, maybe someone can clue me in. Why do they use different sized pulleys??? Wouldn't that be a pain to set-up and to find the right size belts?

  26. I am looking for some guidance on pulley size like over all dia. looks like I have to make a new blower pulley.

    any thoughts?

  27. I am looking for a double wide belt for this.

    anybody?
