Great looking '41. Post more when you get paint done. I'm still mired in bodywork and other issues with my '35.

The one I'm doing right now. I just photoshopped the quarter window shape, going to finish teh roof this week and get back to the rest of the Merc, which is a piece of ****. :)

Oh, and I just wanna add this is a 51 Merc 2 dr. It is missing so many parts I can't blame anyone for not knowing what it was! (Not that my blotchy quarter panel paint add on wasnt spot on! Haha)

    SUPER CHOP.jpg

I'm doing a 6" chop on a super beetle body for use on a Bonneville
    G/GCC land speed racer.

Even if you don't like VW's, the challenge to chop one is significant.
The Turret style roof curves in all directions, and a flat spot does not exist. This curved tin is what gives stiffness to the little riding mowers.

When you take one of these tops down, you have to make it longer as well as wider. A donor car is needed to pirate the additional tin from. It also takes two sets of doors to get the frames to match the top.

Here is a blog for the SPEEDWAGEN project if your interested.

You can save it to your do***ents. You can save all the pictures in one folder. I have saved a number of these pictures to my "Chopped" folder. Great for future reference.

Started out with a 49 Hillman 4 door car and made a truck from it.Chopped it 3 1/2 ich and made the back of the cab from a number of different rigs.Haven`t touch it in a few years and changed the direction of the build. Was going to be a 4 banger daily driver but now plan is a BBC g***er

Nice roof line. Not real radical. Very nice.

The chop came out just like i wanted. I wanted to keep the original flow of the roof and body lines. I wanted something different by not making it a fastback. It ended up being 3 1/2 in the front and 4 1/2 in the back. I like it and i can still fit in it. I really like the original roof and style of the an uncut car and i always thought there was a way for a merc to look like it had a factory chop.
