went to a local antique store today and found some great car stuff. first are what i'm ***uming are some carburetor float tools. they are mostly carter brand, but there are a couple burroughs brand and one old snap-on brand. i was hoping someone here more familiar with the older carbs and their tools could enlighten me on the use. next is this NOS wiper ***embly. i am thinking it's for a model a, but it might just be wishful thinking. it clips on at the post end, no bolt through. i also included a closeup of the blade mount end to help ID it if possible. then, being an olds guy i couldn't p*** up on this mechanical pencil. thanks tom for helping me realize it's an old golf pencil. last was this tool box, made by sherman klove. i'm going to use it for my roadside tool kit in the diamond t oh yeah, i'm most likely going to go back for a NOS set of '32 desoto headlights to use on my build too. awesome chrome buckets and perfect lenses. there was an old engine ****yzer there too that i'm tempted to pickup but i have to convince the wife that i need it
Cool scores! I looked thru my old rochester service manual and they show similar float tool kits. You could buy a tool kit for each carb model or a master kit that included all of them. They all came in a case like yours. It looks like yours would be the master kit for carters, plus some extras. The price sheet doesn't list the tool kits, so I can't tell you what they cost in 1953. Also, your wiper isn't a straight blade. So I don't think it would be from anything with a flat windshield. Tom
I got a proto 1427 body hammer at the antique store about a month ago for $14 its in realy good shape i was pretty happy
Hi Found 2 metal boxes some years back! both where marked Carter carburator tools, looks similar. Great score Br Kjell ....................................... Taildragger&fenderless
The wiper parts seem because of the big catch unit on the blade and the adjustable angle end on the arm to be semi-universal replacement units, not for a particular OEM use. Carter was the unquestioned TOOL KING of the carburetor world...they had 99 special tools for anything and everything.
The wiper arm looks like just an after market universal replacement the clip style looks like the older Trico ones I had a set of them on a pickup of mine because someone stole my stock wipers in a parking lot!!
Sk... I have the same model tool box sitting on the shelf in my shop. I bought it from a guy in '64 while in the Army. Probably made in the '50s. N B R
too bad for you this one has lots of old tools, old bikes and they told me they have old car parts all the time too. oh, if anybody knows what that wiper is and needs it, lemme know. i have the part number too if it helps.
