The chop looks good and i like how much longer it makes the car look but the back window looks out of place. i have to look at it for a while but it might be too close to the body line or out of proportion. Or it could be just late.

Nah, that things is cl***y. You really thought out the back gl*** and it shows. It is just subtle enough that people might not realize if it is or isn't because Hudson's look 'pre chopped' anyway. I wonder how long it will be before someone asks you if it is chopped and when you say 'yep' they ask what the rear window is out of.

    Hey Hudsoncustom,
You get an "attaboy!" Great job!
For my money, the Hudsons look better chopped than a Merc anyday!
    I know that'll anger some,but,yours is a great example!

The willys is actually a 39 Lincoln Zephyr. It will be 2 door'ed and carson topped. 49 Cad motor....

Paint for the Hudson is still up in the air. I've thought about a nice blue, like on the Jesse James Merc, Sam Barris Green, Matador red....but in the end, I still come back to gloss black and gold. The wheels, 1/2 of the dash, and the garnish mouldings will be gold...everything else black.

I think it needs a mercury grill then the cloning will be complete. Who are the metal masters who come in during the day while you're at work? I know you well enough to know your talents are limited to taking pictures, oh, and the **** eating grin. None the less, it looks absolutely perfect my friend....

They customise Mercurys to look like Hudsons.

  21. The proportions are perfect, it looks like the way Hudson should have built them to begin with. When you get it finished and painted the magazines would be nuts to not be lined up at the door wanting to run a full spread on it.

That's a LONG way off. A LONG way off...

Perhaps some day it will be nice...and not such a pile of ****. ha ha.

The plan is to get most of the fab work done by summer...and get the car in primer.

Paint over the next winter, and interior next spring.
It's at least a year out from looking nice..

Not just to look like any Hudson..to look like YOUR Hudson.:D

  24. VERY NICE EXCECUTION!!!!!!! Nice to see a Hudson once in a while. I got a soft spot for Mercs but always like the stepdowns. Almost did one myself and actually got a Hollywood hardtop im trying to get out here from Elpaso. My buddys dad is a hard core Hudson guy and we went out to see him this summer and he gave us the nickle tour. Bet i seen at least 40 Hudsons in various stages!!!! Keep it up and keep us posted! Nice work man! Can't wait to see this in person, but I think I'll have to. Won't be back to the Seattle area for a year, so maybe it will be all shiny by then??? :D

I took some more pics last night. I haven't even touched the car in a week. I picked up a 38 Lincoln Zephyr 3 window, and a 61 Olds hardtop in the last week, and they have been occupying my time. (Actually, trying to figure out how to "rearrange" the garage took most of my time).

a couple of pics of the rear window area for those that asked...

And some 3/4 shots to show just how short the car is now. Check out how low it is compared to my GF's KIA...

and a profile shot in front of the house...
