Soak them in a bubble bath for hours.. Watch TV with a pan on your lap.
In time it'll start coming off the moisture soaked skin.

    OMFG!! ROFLMAO!!!

    :D

I'm sorry, I know a FNG shouldn't kick off his first day laughing at another poster but lordy is that ever funny!!!

I've seen it before, never thought I'd see it twice in my life.

A friend of mine once told me of how he was putting a back window in his old dodge pickup after work & he was asking for tips, I told him a few things that obviously just confused him because the next day I learned that he was also under the assumption that he needed to use windshield adhesive. He used urethane.

I saw his pickup in the parking lot before I saw him that day. the truck told the whole story... black urethane ring out on the paint surrounding the window gasket area, black handprints on the roof & upper cab corners, black hand prints on the upper bed sides were he leaned to rest....

Then I saw ole Jerry, 2 black hands, black on his forehead & face from wiping sweat away....

OMG I laughed, still one of the funniest things I've ever seen!!

And yes, the funniest part is that no, you didn't need any sort of adhesive to fit your glass inside a rubber gasket. Maybe some soapy water & some thin nylon rope or other fav tricks/tools, but no glue.

    :D

adhesives are for fitting glass in a "tray" with no gaskets/seals.

if I remember right, jerry had to let that shit wear off of his hands which took like a month. most anything that will pull that stuff off will also take your skin off.

The natural oils in your skin, combined with the perpetual shedding of dead skin should take it off in 3-5 days...

At least it will feel like a different woman!

seriously soak your hands in hot soapy water or bath and use a hard short brush. Takes a while but it will come off.

I use brake cleaner on the really nasty stuff if I don't have any lacquer thinner around.

hehe, its cool man. no offense taken. i'll freely admit this was my first windshield install. and the ONLY reason i went with some kind of sealant was on a recomendation of an "oldtymer" i know. i just assumed you would want SOME kind of sealant in there just to repel water...guess i was wrong.
but, seriously, thanks for that...that will save me some trouble on the back window!:D

the worse is around the fingernails. that'll be with you for a while.

I just can't think of anything to tell you to try that wouldn't be dangerous.

lots of good avice so far with the citrus based cleaners like goo-gone etc, the short bristled scrubby brushes... some of the soaking advice is probably worth a try, makes sense.

    good luck.

One thing not mentioned. Put on some latex gloves and wear them around for a couple of hours. The heat and sweat inside those gloves has cleaned off some of the most hardcore stuff I have ever had on my hands. Worth a try.

I think goo-gone is mostly mineral spirits and or vm&P Naptha solvent (kind of like lighter fluid) with a little citrus stink in it. The MSDS shows it as 99% VOC or almost all solvent and almost no citrus.

Anyway, I don't think that will do much for urethane and isocyanate with a toluene solvent carrier.

If you have some automotive enamel paint thinner around, it is likely xylene/toluene based. Both are bad for you. I don't really recommend this, but I would use that to clean my hands.

Paint stripper for 10 minutes??? Me thinks that is a joke or at least hopes so. Don't do that or you will be very sorry.

If your skin is dry and cracked like most of us this time of year (or any time for that matter), the carbon black pigment is now deep in the skin and is not likely to come out for awhile.

I would wipe my hands thoroughly with some enamel thinner and then scrub with some abrasive sand type hand soap and then pick up some hand lotion and keep your hands doused in it for a few days while you wait for mother nature to take it's course.

Cool broken bones pics too. Bet that hurt.

actually, i managed to get most of it off yesterday....kept soaking my hands in hot soapy water for a long time and most of it peeled off and with the help of a brush got most of it knocked off.
    thanks.

Take two buckets full of molasses, soak your hands in them for two weeks......just kiddin'. Skin naturally lifts contaminants on it's own. Takes a little longer on older guys, but it will be gone soon. Tattoos are permanent because the ink goes deeper than the skin layer that produces oils that can lift them.

The only problem now is, you better hope that glass doesn't have to ever come out again.

The way I do these is first install the gasket evenly on the glass. Then mix up some dish soap and water. Get a small nylon rope, like window curtain pull rope, and soak it in the soap/water. Put some of the soap/water solution in a spray bottle and wet the outside channel in the gasket, then put the rope in the channel. Place the glass in the opening with the rope ends hanging inside. Have a couple of guys hold it in place with light pressure. Get inside the car and start to pull the rope. Have some blunt small tools handy, screwdriver, bodywork hook, etc., to carefully work out any kinks that may form in the rubber as you pull the rope. Often it takes some hand slapping from the outside to get it to pop into place.

hehe, yea, i learned my lesson there. i actually had to pop it back out today cause i realized it didn't seat properly. thankfully, i managed it without breaking the glass. i cleaned the glass of all the black shit and the window trey itself and did basically what you just said.
well, at this point all you can do it laugh at yourself. best lessons learned and from mistakes:D
    thanks for the advice.

p.s. - most of the "satans black goo" has freed its grip from my hands!

Have you tried laundry detergent? The powdered stuff. I've used "Tide" before and the grit of the powder has scraped a lot of different stuff off my hands. Not sure it'll do much for that stuff, but it does work on a lot of other things.
