I have a good running sbc and this truck happens to need an engine. I just kinda need some visual aid to help figure where everything should live.. I have seen a few years ago when I still hung out with people, the engines were really tight against the firewall?? How about fan to radiator space? what does that look like? If I had a radiator in my GARAHE I suppose it would help to locate everything.. So who has pics for a brotha?? whatever. If not, I'll figure it out. Its not rocket sugery. Seatbelts & latex, -J.
Not a lot of help but this one was done a long time ago. I was determined to not cut the firewall on my old 34 P/u (neither one of theses) and I was able to shoehorn it in there using a stock Chevy fan set up. It's actually very easy if you have all the parts. An all time favorite of mine from one of our own HAMBers. I'm sooo jealous!
I dropped the mounts on my SBC/TH350 so the firewall did not need to be cut. That made things tight around the steering box though. If I did it again, I would relieve the firewall a bit. Block Hugger hedders were very tight around the starter motor, the hedder flange had to be ground out to miss the front bearing housing on the starter. This might be down to my El Cheapo hedders though. I'm running a Walker Rad and an electric fan as there was no room at all for a stock fan. The electric one is fitted as high up the rad as possible, and the mounts were ground as small as possible. The rear of the fan housing is about an inch from the front pulley. I'm using a short water pump. Its tight, but it will fit.
my 34 has a hurst motor mount w/mechanical fuel pump and fan. firewall uncut & ram horns. whoever installed this in the 60s did ok. ----- yesterday i was setting a f-100 steer box in place of the stock steering box. it seemed tight (it will be close w/out moving the engine.) couldnt get much done yesterday tooooo much grease & had to head over to easter dinner. --- ill find out this week if the f-100 box will fit with some grindin, pryin & pushin.
