I have a inter truck,59 australian AA model....personaly, I like the look of them as a small truck/pickup with the front sheetmetal intact, it might just be me but they dont look right as a rod.......drop it, throw a big block in it, chop it, bag it..do as you will, but Id put that front that is in the background, back on it.......dont take offence, just my opinion....they are a great truck, thats for sure....................Bert

Yup, have a '51 l-110. Like you, I am still trying to decide what to do with her. Probably keep her pretty much stock, but you never know.

I had a '39 'Binder in the '60's, had a 241 Dodge hemi and a Powerflush 2-speed, lots of fun! Then my brother and I put a 354 Chrysler hemi , pushbutton 3-speed, in a '49 shortbox, awesome little truck.

I have a '54 in the works. I clipped it with a s-10. it has a 350,auto used the column and master cylinder off the s-10 also. I did a notch in the back and used a 4x4 s-10 rear on the factory leaf springs. mine will have all the fenders back on it when done. will sit about 4in off ground

yes, i do; hence the name. mine is a '50 L110. spent most of last week re-painting the interior. hope to have it on the road this summer. it's pretty much a stocker, with new bias ply tires, new brake lines, converted to 12V from 6V, etc.

i'd advise against chopping it. the split rear windows separate IHC's from other 40's and 50's trucks--it's just too cool. it'd be really hard to chop the top without ruining the lines of the split rear window. everything else you mentioned sounds good though.

ultimately, i want it to go the 350/350 route, with a 9" rear, that will drive 75 on the freeway. i want it to have a stock appearance on the outside with modern features under the hood.

I am now currently trying to finish a 53 r-130 1 ton that I shortened to shortbed length, put a 350/350 drive train, 1979 ford f100 front spindles, removed leaves from all springs and am currently trying to finish adapting the f100 steering components. It has a 1/2 ton truck street roddish stance, like 2 inches lower in front

From what ive found getting replacement pistons for those motors are not easy. They currently dont make them and havent since the early eighties I beleive. It looks like your motor might be in need of some.

If I was to do it over again I would have tried to utilize the s10 frame swap or had put a inline in it. Once you put a V8 in that engine compartment you have to make a new steering shaft that will go around the drivers side exhaust (if you want to keep the stock steering box location) or relocate the steering box to the rear of the axle and then make a new steering shaft.

Those trucks look there best slammed and stock in my opinion.

The fenderless look with these trucks seem like a lot of work for something that when your done will prorbably look like a hot air balloon with suspension.

    Good luck

  22. I have heard that this guys drives this and drives it HARD. It's commendable that he uses it. But, it is definetely one of the UGLIEST things I've ever seen. It's like a textbook example of poor porportions. Wrong from bumper to bumper (IF it had bumpers, that is).

ya he does drive it and drive it hard, he takes it everywhere, lives in riverside, driven to viva, mooneyes, ventura, temecula, goodguys costa mesa. loves to drive that truck.
He even won the pre-54 class autocross at the goodguys in costa mesa few weeks ago.

some like it, some dont, to each his own.

There's a very solid and straight 50-52 pickup at Island Recycling, 35 miles NW of Seattle, pretty cheap. He doesn't want to crush it and i hate to see them go too. No rust, curved dash, complete with the front sheet metal in the bed. Probably available in the 250-350 range. 360-331-1727 ask for Dave.

I saw that binder at the goodguys show, we took a break from our disney vacation. It was well worth it.

That frame's welding was impressive as hell, but something isn't right with the look, maybe a box would help.

This dumb pollack from the frozen north gets happy just to see any KB!! ha ha

I have a 46 k2 international. Rebuilt green diamond flathead, frame up. Cab was sanded and in primer, but taking abreak on the fenders and working on my 49 dodge wayfarer. Those fenders and lines look great on the KB's should have left em on.

Here's mine as I found it on ebay and once I got home (minus the huge rear axle). Plans are to put a pickup bed on it and a 401 Nailhead. I have gotten part of the frame made so far, taking far longer than I thought when I started dreaming about building my own hot rod.
