Hey guys, I need to replace the front wheel bearings on my '56. I can get the original ball bearing style and I have found the timken roller style. Has anyone replaced the old style with the new roller style? What is involved with the swap ?? Just want to get everything straight before I drop a ton of cabbage on the bearings....

    Thanks in adavance.

i haven't done the swap myself, but i did look into it awhile ago, since i like roller bearing better than ball bearings.
i seem to wear out the outers faster than the inners, which is good because they're still relatively inexpensive.
i got some numbers at the bearing house, but i still would have had to make a spacer for behind the inner bearing, and i would have had to bore out the hub to fit the outer bearing, which would mean finding a larger diameter dust cap.
which is WHY i haven't done the swap yet,it looks like a pain in the ass.
if you get it all figured out you can tell ME how you did it! :D

got the same problem with my aluminum car trailer... no its not new, its built out of huge old aluminum I beams from a ship scrap yard it looks heavy as hell but you honestly dont notice it even when pulling that monster with a
Isuzu pick up down the highway at 85.
anyways.. its an old home built with 2 heavy ass axles bolted strait to the frame and all the hubs and spindles and such are old 6 lug Chevy , the bearings are shot.. how shot you ask? well, they have flat sides and when i took off the center cap, watter poored out... not good.
