He was 73 yrs old, had a **** load of wives & kids.I read somewhere that he had to keep touring just to pay alimony!! I liked him he was a great singer & showman, had alot of cl***ics that still hold up today. He'll be missed JimV
I remember when I was a kid, on Saturday afternoons my Pops used to always pull out records and play them for hours. Without fail, he always had some Ray Charles in the stack. Memories........................................ I feel like I've lost a member of my family. Thank you, Ray. Your memory will always live on in your music. Vaya con Dios, Amigo!
the world lost a great. the man had more talent in one finger than all the current popular singers combined. he will be missed. "lets go get stoned......" ...ken....
Grew up listening to his music. He was one of the old masters. Must be one helluva jam session in heaven.
Extremely versitile singer...he could sing soul, blues, country, rock & roll, you name it. He will be missed.
Now, that is sad. I know we just lost an ex-president but this really is sad. When I was a kid we used to have Ray Charles parties that were nothing more than listening to his albums. There has never been a voice nor talent like his.
I'VE had the blues bad ever since I heard the sad news. To me all the flags that are at half mast are for Ray not Ron. Ted
His live album from the Monterey Jazz Festival is one of the most rockingest rock 'n' roll records of all time. Yeah the ol' blind **** could sing and play in any style he wanted. And to think that MOR ***** Richard Clayderman's still alive! There's no justice I tell you.
You guys are going to think I am a tard, but every time I hear his rendition of the song America The Beautiful it gives me the chills. You hear that song all of the time, but he brought something to it that I can't explain. It is like it is the first time I have ever heard those words from someone who actually believed them.
I hear that OGNC!! I think if I heard that song today I would probably cry. Terri Gross had a special show today (NPR) dedicated to him...It was great!
One Hell of a talented performer, one of the rare people, who could touch millions, with his songs, and when you heard him sing, there was no doubt who it was and that he felt, what he did,in his soul.
He had a outstanding sence of humor. He was great on the Super Dave Osborn Show. A great tallent he will be missed by all. My favorite was "Tell me what I say"
I wish I could have seen him Ray's back up was the Rayletts, on "Into The Music" radio show, Al Neff said "If you wanted to be a Raylett, you had to LET RAY" He had talent.
I listened to the interview with terri gross also, the man had such an uplifting and positive at***ude , he was truly great.I wish there were more people like him.
