    Some interesting/entertaining reading here.

Somewhere I am sure there is some middle ground and a way to work with both the govt and neighbors to some resolution (or at least I hope so).

    If not...

I would paint my house including the shingles the same flourescent green as that citation sticker, bury the car ass first in the front yard and grow flowers in the trunk.

    ...just semi kidding.

    Good luck with this mess.

My old neighbor hated my cars. He actually said that my loud exhausts broke his windows. To piss him off, I got a junk Fiat. Painted it pink with red stripes and green polka dots. Then added his house number in black on the doors and hood. I left it in my front yard for 14 days. The most your allowed in Jersey before you have to register it. He called the town zoning dept after a week. They came and investigated and laughed saying I wasn't doing anything wrong and to just junk it before 14 days.

Ok not car related complaint but close to it. First I was repainting my old house that I had and it was red so I was going to paint it red again and I had the primer tinted with red paint and it turned it pink, well this screw ball that lived down the street from me and I had never spoke to in three years years of living there comes down and tells me he will file a complaint with the township if I paint my house pink. Well i told him in a few words to go get bent or something more to the point. I finished painting the house and never seen him again until the secound encounter 6 months later. I sold my house and was going to move on that Saturday so the Friday before I brought home my best friend brand new F-350 with his 6 month old Featherlight enclosed trailer for his race car to put all of my stuff in. Well the same jerk comes into my driveway and states I can not have a commercial vehicle parked here. I promptly told him to get the Hell off my property. I drove by my old house a couple of weeks ago and the guy i sold it to has 4 old US Mail jeeps tore apart in the drive and a boat with out a trailer also in the drive, so i guess he got what he deserves.

Yep gotta agree being nasty for nasty's sake is lame. Back off the bridge with the other trolls.

And your neighbours hate you why ????????....... Do that in my street and we'd have issues as well.

Does anyone remeber what respect is these days - seems to be a one way street in many posts.

Anyone thought of trying to get the nieghbours into the hobby or offered to help them with their stuff. Maybe not the answer everytime but it would be a start.

I moved out to the boondocks to avoid yuppie dipshits, however, they are invading the dirt road I live on. Every car on my property, except one, is registered. JUST IN CASE someone bitches about my 50 chevy and assortment of STUFF in my yard. They are not inspected, but it is a way I avoid a potential problem. Plus my neighbor had a bunch of cars tucked away on his property and I have helped him unload a few. He is no problem. However, when another house was built next to the guy with the cars out back, he asked me if I knew of a town ordinance to get them removed, I just asked him if they were there when he decided to move there. End of discussion. He actually turned out to be a nice guy.

  10. one thing the city of milwaukie told me was that if what ever was the stem of the problem was "yard art" the city would not/could not get involved because they arenot art critics and art is one of our godgiven/fought for by our fathers right of expression...........kinda like the rusty old full fendered T being in my catus garden

the shithole town I live in is adopting similar codes. luckily i live in the county.

i say strip it down and let them haul it off for you. the other you should request a hearing on showing that it is not junk and still has value. if that does not work it buys you more time to find a place for the car.

oh yeah, the shithole town i live in went to demo a condemmened house and tore down the wrong one...not once but twice.

i feel your pain i just bought a new $65,000.00 boat and parked it in my driveway the front of the trailer stuck in the sidewalk 13" I live in a cultasac and have never seen anyone ever walk on my sidewalk. i got a notice from the city and it sad i had 5 days to move it or get a $100.00 fine for every day the city inspector see's it in the driveway. i found out who called the city and parked it in front of his house and moved it every 72 hrs. i did it for two months just to piss him off. i got tired of moving it so now i pay $185.00 a month for storage
The funny thing is last week he asked me to weld a hinge on his fence and i told him sorry but no i was saving electricity because boat storage cost so much.
This last Sunday there is a new for sale sign in front of his house. It will be nice to see the prick go.

  13. whatever you do "don't fucking lay down and give up" go to the hearing and with your best "ass kissing lips on" see what their fucking problem is armed with plenty of pic's and addresses on your street of potential violators. makes me feel good that i piss off my douche bag neighbor. as nice as his lawn is i wouldn't let my grandkid crawl on his grass with all the chemicals he uses just too keep it green. if you work with the people enforcing these local laws they have such heavy workloads they will bend and give you extentions if needed.

Very simple fix. Move the car from the driveway to the front yard. Go to Home Depot and pick up some nice flowers and stage them on and around your new flower box. Hell, I've been to Texas, they have all kinds of things in their yards, from wagon wheels to old plows and various other antique farm implements, I see know reason why you can't have 49 Chevy.

I called the police officer that left the notices on my cars when I got home today. He says that if I get the 49 body in the garage and fix the flats on the parts car I will be good to go. So I threw some other wheels on the parts car this evening and tomorrow I am gonna put it under a cover as well, just to hide it even more. Now all I gotta do is round up like six guys to help me lug that body in the garage. The cop was super cool and seems like he wants everybody to be happy. I will keep you guys posted as to how it all turns out. I won't have as much room to work in the garage anymore but I guess I will have to figure it out :)

All this shit talking about how it's your fault/how your neighbors suck and the cop has something up his ass and the cop turns out to be chill as long as you tidy up. Awesome.

It's cool man. I like RichardD. I just wanted to say it nice so anyone else wouldn't fly off the handle. I didn't think he would do it, that's what I said too.

Man I hate this crap. I've had to deal with it too! got a 66 Mustang I've owned for 29 years. It's been sitting in my driveway for about 8 years. It's all 1 color, well unless rust is a color, has a all 4 wheels & all glass. Car sits about 60 feet off a public road on my property & cops have been here 3 times issuing warnings/ citations that they wer going to fine me $100 day for having a car I own sitting on property I own. each time I pushed back & they backed down. I sent a copy of the PA state constitution to the police chief & township supervisors, of which the first article of rights says this:
    Inherent Rights of Mankind
    Section 1.
All men are born equally free and independent, and have certain inherent and indefeasible rights, among which are those of enjoying and defending life and liberty, of acquiring, possessing and protecting property and reputation, and of pursuing their own happiness.

I call it the pretty police & I just think it would be nice if instead of harrassing a hard working, tax paying, voting citizen that maybe they could find out what group of punks was going around stealing stuff from cars in the hood for a couple of months, including a couple hundred $ worth of camera equipment from me. I did recently add another old car to the driveway so I bought car covers for them just to be nice.

my neighbors keep the boats, motor homes travel trailers and motorcycles in side or hidden away, I try to do the same, I call it common courtesy to my neighbors and a little pride in my place, I'd say sometime along the way you have to learn to get along.... but then I am an old bastard too..........

I had a somewhat similar problem, after her husband died the old bat that lives next door to me called code compliance on me and told them I was putting up a (24 x 48) building in my backyard without a city permit (which I had), she also said I was running a business (which I wasn't), and that the 4 cars I had in my backyard were junkers (which they weren't, they where registered, and running, but the paint jobs on them weren't the best). So I called the number on the paper that code compliance put on my front door and setup a time to meet the code compliance officer at my house (I had to take off work naturally). The lady from code compliance shows up and I show her the permit, told her I'm not running a business, and the cars were registered and running. I was nice to her, and she was nice to me she told me to put up a 6' privacy fence around my backyard (which I did with a city permit) and every things cool. The old bitch likes to sleep during the day and sits out on her back porch all night and smokes her cigaretts, so now that I work at home on my computer I like to go out at least once a day to start up one car and let it run for about 30 - 60 minutes (revving the engine every now and then) and I can hear her scream from inside her house "there he is again starting one of those damn cars", which naturally brings a big smile to my face.:D

    I don't get mad, I get even!:D

found a letter i wrote to the paper since the paper here was praising Taft passing a new we can go on your property and remove your junk law...

Heard it through the grapevine my new neighbor don't like my big red barn '47 Ford, bullet holes in the door broke-down motor in the front yard. I've got a mind to paint a plywood sign and nail it up on a knotty pine tree saying "I was here first, this is my piece of dirt and your ramblin' don't rattle me.

After that it dawned on me why I live in the county and not the city and why if and when it comes up for a vote about joining the city I will vote no. I live in the county for a reason and that reason is I do not like how the city likes to control what you can and can not do.

If I have a old beat up car on my property and it is off of the public street that is my business. Now the city wants to be able to go on peoples property and force them to live up to the standards that they think are appropriate. They should spend less time worrying about peoples yards and what they are doing and more time worrying about why the signs around town "Visit Historical Taft" would make more sense if it read "Visit Ghost town Taft" and the sign that someone vandalized to read "If you lived in Taft right now you would be spun" made more sense then "If you lived in Taft right now you would be home".

Kern County Board of Supervisors please take note...we live in the county because we do not like a lot of the actions that the Taft City Council takes.

And for the record I live in Taft Heights...one of the pieces of property that the city of Taft would like to annex in...not South Taft...the property that the city of Taft does NOT want because they would have to put in curbs/sidewalks, sewer, and lamp posts.

    Signed,
Happy to live in the county

    *******************************************************
also...about moving the body in the garage. make a dolly for it. when you work roll it out in the driveway. when you are done put it up.

my brother lived on base in a house and had to do that.
