I was told I could find information on this site concerning a frame swap for '47-'54 Chevrolet AD trucks using an S10 ch***is. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Why would you want to do that? You might want to do a intro tell us about yourself and your cars and projects. a word to the wise as the nice folks here can be brutal..

go back and tell them you were misinformed,

and never mention the S word again

Sorry. I'm from Fort Worth, TX. I own my own business, 34 years old, married 12 years, 2 kids, 2 dogs, 2 mice, 1 cat. I own a 1949 5 window Chevrolet truck. This truck was original when I bought it, I added a 350, and a '69 rearend. 2 years ago, I put a front saddle from a '77 under the front end, I am not entirely pleased with the way the truck sits, and was looking for some options, I think I am going to just use drop spindles and lowering springs instead of the S word as ya'll put it. I also own a '70 cutl***, and a '98 C2500 diesel truck. I have built several hotrods, none of them mine, and I have owned 21 vehicles since I started driving. No pics of anything in digital formats. Satisfied? Any questions about my truck feel free to ask.

It doesn't look too bad, the tires, 15x8, clear the outer edge of the fender. I'm looking to drop it further and probably get some negative offset wheels to move them inboard. The track width difference is only 1-1/2" total.

  12. My truck had a camaro clip under it before I did the frame swap. My tires used to rub all the time. I even had a 6 inch wheel with 4 inches of back spacing. Now I can turn the wheels lock to lock without hitting.

It does have an air ride suspension and is the best riding vehicle I own. The air ride is for winter weather and for towing.

Here's the truck with the modified hooked on the back.

  13. Welcome! I've seen those full size Chevy front clips. You will never get it to sit as righteous as Clarks because of the width. Clark and his SoWhat crew has a ton of experiece in setting this stuff (obvious from the pics).

I saw a s-10 sitting on a full-size 4wd ch***is once... the tires stuck a full foot past the fenders. Pretty scary looking.

SoWhat's little chebbie gives me a chubbie... specially with that amazing blue, what a color!

    S10, Chevy clip, whatever

why not use a Mustang II ?

a street rod is a street rod after all.

To each his own, I personally don't like Clark's truck. I think it is gorgeous and looks cool, but I would never build me a truck that looked like that. To me it is no different than putting a 1 ton dually in the weeds. No offense Clark, different strokes for different folks, but I think with drop spindles and springs, maybe some neg offset wheels I can get the look I'm after. I like what I have, but the front needs to be a little lower. I cut the springs that are on it now, and I'm not happy with the ride. My rear wheels also extend past the fenders but to me that's cool.

P.S. The reason for not using the mustang II parts is 2 part and simple. No Ford parts will ever be on my Chevy, and money. I did the complete saddle, brakes and all for under $200.

Well stranger, I have an S10 ch***is that I'm looking to sell. I put it under my 50 Chevy truck and mocked it up, them pooped out on it.

But, there's no need to be high and mighty about the Ford parts on your Chevy thing. Half of the MII swaps out there don't actually have an original Ford part in them anywhere. Can you say aftermarket control arms, spindles, rack, etc?

Some of you guys throw ****-fits about the littlest things. All he said was he didn't want a "dropped to the floor" look on his truck. He came here looking for a little info on swapping frames. My advice- figure it out on your own. Swapping frames isn't an exact science. What 1 guy does to make it work isn't always what another will do on his. Swap the cab on. block it up to your liking, fab mounts. Nuthin' to it.

Oh, I do have one comment for ya- don't put any Ford parts on that Chevy! Thats a damn horrible way to ruin good Ford stuff........

Don't have ALL the answers just the one's I've figured out on my own. As for the Ford comment, you guys are WAY TOO serious. Don't you know that's why they make different kinds. You notice the guy who's truck I referred to hasn't thrown a fit. As for the Mustang II pieces, you didn't read it all. I can't afford to spend the kind of money that Heidt's or FatBoy or any number of others want for their setup. I personally would rather do it on the cheap. Sorry if I offended anyone living in their perfect little message board world. Didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings or come off as a know it all. I have noticed that the one's that get pissed off don't seem to help much, just blow steam while the rest of you give some advice or understand that not everyone is the same, talk about a boring world. Again, didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings.

clarks truck rules, cause he went the extra TEN FEET to make a ROOF, thats something that shows he ACTUALLY might have had a VISION when he built SOMETHING quite different...

My Ford comment was a joke, if you didn't get it. I've got a Stude truck w/ a Chevy LUV frame & a Ford engine being put together- I have no brand loyalty & enjoy ribbing the "die-hards" like yourself.

You need to lighten up & take some abuse from the "old guys" (not refering to myself, of course). That is how things are done around here, plain & simple. You're new, they give you **** for a while. You take it in stride & come back, then good. If not, don't let the door hit you in the *** on the way out.

Not mad, and not leaving, I take worse from my business partner every day. Brand loyalty, ??, just never had a chevy quit on me, had a couple of fords die painfull deaths though.

Clark did go the extra mile, and made one hell of a truck. Just not my style, that's all.

most everyone that responded here has given to the board

    in different ways

    some more visible then others

we can rib each other too

so don't think you're so special.

this is a traditional board where the traditional

    rod building is discussed

but even the S10 swap although not traditional

    must have merit

it is in the Tech section after all.

    and Clark,

love the pic of the modified in tow.

    it says it all man.

  26. I'm not offended by him not liking my truck. It's my truck and I like it. Sometimes I push the S-10 thing a little too much but it's easy and in the end you have a truck that can be used every day.
