OT: Anyone here w/ custom bike frame building experience?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Tony Bones, Jun 12, 2004.

  1. I've fallen in love w/ bikes. There, I admit it.

I'm looking to build a Harley 45 powered bobber to keep my Pan company in the garage and am wondering if anyone has experience building frames from scratch?

See, the issue is that a little 45 motor would look kind of ridiculous in a big twin frame. It'd also be tough to get the 3 spd. tranny comfy in that big frame.

    Anyone? Anyone at all?

  2. Some dude named Jason might be able to help you. He's on here as evilfordcoupe.

Call up Lucky's Choppers. They're down a little south of the West Seattle Bridge (George Town).

The benefit of putting a 45" in a big twin frame is that you can use a big twin 4 speed tranny(even 5 or 6 speed for that matter). I know of one guy already doing that. & big twin frames are soooo much more plentiful. You could even use a paugucho. But they make ugly stuff.

Tell me more oh wise one. What type of adaption is needed to run a 4 spd. w/ the 45? Also, what else will I need to wank around w/ in terms of mounting the little motor in the big frame? Would a sporty frame work better than a big twin frame?

I think I can stay away from making it look too ridiculous by not going up and out...just running a little extra rake.
