with the ammount of debt and lack of sales ford has ..they will be lucky to stay in the US as a viable company. no company takes on the huge debt that ford has and live (at least not in the capacity we now know). they will be lucky to be able to sue anyone over anything. as far as my ford..it will not have a blue oval on it anywhere

There IS a reason Ford finds it self in it's current fiscal situation and it ain't from sound management decisions.

If you paid for it, it's yours to do as you friggin' wish...... Unless of course, Ford is willing to make refunds. Plus, if you modified it in any way, seems it doesn't fit their 'profile' anymore, anyway.
    I hear 'scam'.

Volkswagen did the same thing to their enthusiast, imagine not wanting there name being affiliated with the bug and bus! Can't use the vw emblem in your ads.:(

  7. OH! Now I get it! And I went to all that trouble of unloading, you mean CAMERA!

Man you should hear the ******** they put up against the model company's about likeness and licensing. This is why the cost for any model made by a company (AMT, Revell/Monogram RC2 etc) that does Fords as well as others makes almost stopped doing kits of Fords and the unit price jumped up sharply a few years ago.
Because of Ford doing this a basic AMT kit is $30-40 bucks over here in oz and Revell start at $40!
I love Fords thats why Im building an Austin with a Buick in it.

I just realised, it will be my first non FoMoCo car!!

Old story. Turns out it was a combination of CafePress jumping the gun and an overzealous legal department at FoMoCo, not necessarily actual Ford policy.

I thought this was all sorted out already?

Wasn't there a Statement by Ford at some point?

    Edit.

    Arto types quicker than me...

Although they seem a little more lax about the enforcement of it, GM has a trademark on the design of most of their more popular cars, like the 57 BelAir, 69 Camaro, etc. So Ford's not the only one playing this rich man's game. Be careful how you use photos of these kinds of cars.

Ford's perception on this is that someone (BMC and/or cafepress) stands to make a profit off the use of their trademarked en***y (in this case the design of the Mustang).

Edit: Everyone types faster than me!

    It is...

Never should have happened in the first place.

And retracted or not, it tells me a lot of how the People at Ford think about the ******** enthusiasts that own their products....

None of the car companies will let you print even a drawing of one of their cars on a shirt. Everyone does it, but they just don't go after everyone. Goodguys/Andy's Tees has to pay royalties on every tee shirt they produce with a recognizable car on it. Pretty ****ing lame!

Chevy has been 'enforcing' their trademarks, etc. for a long time. I know an old rodder that had a theory that one of the reasons that there were more hot rodded Fords than other brands was because there were more models (Revell, etc) of Ford based hot rods (or so he claimed). So the baby boom generation of hot rodders gravitated to the ford marq when they got old enough to build 'full scale models' of their hot rod fantasies. Or at least that's what he told me.

Hey Kirk, how modified does it have to be before it isn't 'recogniseable'? Chopped, channeled, sectioned, all 3? I figure you might know.

A Car Guy wouldn't have done this.

And a Car Guy seeing another Guy do this would have stopped him.

What are all these Non Car Guys doing, working for a Car Company?

    Oh, well...

    The Damage is done.

I wouldn't say that. The lawyers get paid regardless of how much it pisses off Ford's customers or regardless of how bad it makes Ford look.

The lawyers still get to bill-out for all the time they spend on their rediculous mission.

    Ford looses,
    Ford customers loose,
    The lawyers get rich.

read the entire posts on this Ford nrver tried to stop the calendar.I'm not for Ford but in this case they weren't the bad guys possibly not even their legal representatives.the printer said Ford told them they couldn't print it possibly based on action taken by Ford in a different issue entirely! We are always quick to blame the big guy for something that happens even before we know all the facts. It isn't always about money in some huge corprate pocket either (Though I won't argue the fact it is more often than not!)Look at the case of Carrol Shelby and the several companys now producing Cobra look a likes/kit cars.Shelby asked that for the rights to use the Cobra and Shelby Trademarks they donate 2% of their profits to a charity of their choice ,Their choice not his!Think of this how many here who do something origional be it art or anything else that is entirely their design would want anyone else copying it and making a profit?Say Tingler does a one of a kind painting for a customer then without asking or paying Tingler anything that customer goes out and sells prints of his painting. Most of these big companys don't mind if you use their product in a manner like the Mustang club calendar .They do care if you are using their trademarks to promote your product which has noting to do with them!
