I recently got some kool kustom dash knobs from Ms Metal and am anxious to put then on but not sure how the old ones would come off without tearing them up. Do they screw on or what? Any ideas? If mine are screwed on, then they're good & tight!

Some have a spring loaded collar at the back of the knob that bites down on the shaft. Some of the knobs will have a small slit in the side at the back to push into, otherwise you'd need to get something like a bent paper clip behind the knob to push the metal collar foward a bit. Shouldn't to force 'em The light switch probably has a small ****on on the bottom of the switch unit itself - that needs to be pushed while pulling the knob and shaft out. If the knobs pull out like they are connected to a cable, the entire cable/knob is one unit.

Hope it helps - don't trash yer old knobs!

Do a search. I recently pulled mine off of my '59 and a HAMB search told me how. I would have never figured it out on my own...

The knobs may be held on by set screws on some of them (Heater blower switch-if a separate switch, wiper switch). Others, like the light switch, are pressed on or molded on the shaft. For these you would have to break or cut off the plastic. A dremel tool is good for this.

You may be better off taking the switches out and working on them rather than **** of the car. The light switch knob should come out by pressing a ****on on the switch (behind the dash).
