no thread, but what do you plan on using the converted 12V for? Also what about the grounds, ie: 6V pos gnd to 12V neg gnd and so on?

If you're only doing it for a radio you could always buy a small lawn tractor battery and use that to power up your stereo. Then you wouldn't have to monkey with the rest of the car...
    Just a thought.

Also try a Google search on Randy Rundle. His company is named someting like 5th Avenue Auto Electric- he has a website also. He's very knowledgeable. He also liltterally wrote a book on the subject that is around $10 and worth every cent. His store also sells everything you could possibly need to do this conversion. I'd hunt down his website- it's very helpful.

I think I still have one of the old Radio shack converter boxes that would convert either 6V or 12V (pos gnd) to 12V neg gnd. You might find one on HEEBAY.

I question the polarity conscious devices such as motors listed. Most motors are wired to spin a certain direction. They also do not have permanent magnet fields or armatures, they are coils. This means that a starter will turn the same direction whether pos or neg system. Same goes for wiper, heater and such. Even gauges are built in such a way that they will work in either polarity. Radio and other electronic equipment are polarity sensitive.;)

I changed over my 65 MGB (12V pos gnd) to neg gnd system with only the radio being sensitive to polarity. Everything else was fine.

The generator is not but is fixed by disconnecting removing the belt and running it like a motor to re-polarize

There is an item called an inverter that will change the polarity and voltage. Don't know where to get them, try Radio Shack or an old time electronics store.

That's not usually the preferred method of polarizing a generator...
