I wish I could turn on the radio and pick up 1960s WLAC (Nashville). 50000 watts of nighttime AM at 1510 on the dial. If you grew up east of the Mississippi in the '50s/'60s, you undoubtly listened to Hoss Man Bill Allen or John R at night. Strickly blues and R&B. Howling Wolf, Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, Lightning Hopkins. Still strikes a chord with me. Is this kind of stuff still out there? Streaming Audio or XM, maybe?
[ QUOTE ] Ronnie Dawson ..up jumped the devil and anything by Bad Manners...........Marq [/ QUOTE ] Saw Buster Bloodvessel quite a lot before I moved over here, he lived on a barge in the Hayes Marina (near The Ace) saw him & the band play at The Rayners one night...oh the memories!! Went to all the Madstocks too... As well as the Wembley Madness Show's. Still love Up Jumped The Devil.... And anything by Big Sandy, got the new 'Rockin' cd for Christmas Dave
In Flames- "The Quiet Place" Metallica- "Whiskey in the Jar" Rob Zombie- "Living Dead Girl" Golden Earing- "Twilight Zone" DIO- "Rainbow in the Dark" Motley Crue, April Wine, AC/DC, Molly Hatchet, Junior Brown, I guess it depends on the mood. My taste is pretty diverse, everything from George Jones to Cradle of Filth...
Jimmy Reed at Carnegie Hall for cruising slow. For going faster, I go for Fred Eaglesmith's 105. "Streak of lightning coming down the highway turn around and watch it go switch on the lights put on the high beams better find a preacher on the radio I like to drive at a hundred and five it's just how fast I've gotta go I got the gears and I got the motor ain't now reason to drive slow I like the speed and I like the motion I like the rockin' machine I like to drive at a hundred and five better hurry up if you wat to catch me Noen signs a streaking by like something in your eye Elvis on the radio almost makes you cry flashing lights in the rearview you don't pay them any mind step on the gas, pull out to p*** and leave them far behind you shouldn't oughta done it honey you shouldn't oughta run around but two can be on that highway darlin' and I'm the one who's out there now I like to drive at a hundred and five It's just how fast I gotta go I got the gears and I got the motor ain't no reason to go slow I like the speed and I like the motion I like the rockin' machine and I like to drive at a hundred and five better hurry up if ya wann catch meeeeeeee " More people should know about Fred, he also has a song called Alcohol and Pills that is great. Sorry for the long winded post. But just like Radar Love, this one will get you a speeding ticket, for sure. P
I been listening to a band called "year of the rabbit" and "failure" these days. neither of them are together any longer, but they have filled the bill for my music tastes and needs for a while now. Old Van Halen, drop dead legs is also a favorite for on the road one more I really like to listen to on the road is Police, walking on the moon.
