Winfield Custom Shop Merc grill?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Pro Stock John, Mar 25, 2008.

  1. I called over there, and actually talked to Gene, that was pretty cool.

He said he sells a custom grill, I think he said it was a Cal Customs single bar grill? It was $275 and chrome? Anyone have a pic of one in or out of a car?

    Very nice guy.

i see a nice rack, but no grill

  6. Rik also has a Winfield 1994 catalog on his site, I see the grill bar there, I'm wondering if it's just a straight across bar.

I can take a picture of it out of the car,if you want John.

  11. You are the Merc master hehe.

Is it for sale, is it a Winfield? Does it use factory holes? Let me know I'm pulling together a pile of chrome and stainless for my car.

If you look closely you can see some washers welded in the middle for mounting.

  15. I can vouch for the quality being pretty nice. I sold one to a customer a few years back. Sadly the car got hit and the grill was trashed.

When i showed it to Gene,he said he "personally" made this one, cause he welds washers on the ends so the mounting bolts don't pull through. I had it mounted on the ends with bolts right next to the running light holes.

  17. No offense but the one he sold me was made much nicer.

  18. How come you pulled it Bob? And is the Winfield considered 50's-60's, when I talked to him on the phone he called it a Cal Customs style grill bar.

It wasn't the look I wanted. It's actually a copy of a stock grill. Not sure if it's Hudson,Nash,or something else.

  21. Yes, looked good from the outside. The one I got was a bit cleaner on those end pieces. Don't recall the washer........

I do think they are a great looking grill. You have a measurement from side to side? Getting weird ideas about our 54 Chevy..............

Not to thread jack, but what number did you call to get a hold of them? I tried 6618244803 and got no answer, and called 6618244728 and got a generic answering machine. Both numbers I found on Google so they may be old.

    Thanks
    Robert
