I know I'm an old guy and all that, but I kinda
like some of the newer stuff we (?) put on our
old rides. I love the wide whites and hubcaps I
have on my GMC, but I also dig the look of these
wheels on my Belair. what do you think? ditch 'em
    or run 'em?[IMG][IMG][IMG]

There are four things wrong with that car. One set at each corner. Loose them.... quickly!

You've been around long enough to know how this will go over.

Those look a little too big.

WWW, steelies and small center caps. Or a nice set of Radirs.

It's your car, run what you like - fuck the rest of these guys.

But if you do run them, get some better looking brakes. Big open wheels w/ shitty drums behind them look gay.

I don't mind them at all, but they are quite common. But then again, so are wide whites/chrome reversed wheels. What look are you going for? If you have a modern powerplant with EFI and all of the other creature comforts then I wouldn't bother changing them. They fit that style of car. I don't take offense to them. I just wouldn't go out of my way to wander over and take a gander. Depends on what you're going for.

    I know, I'm no help.

Nice 56 , Like the colors, I don't think I have ever had wheels that I was completely sure of. Its hard to make your own ! I'm not crazy about low profile tires on tri-fives.

If a car is lowered, which your is, I think the large hoops look good...then again, traditional 15 inchers look good too. It`s your ride, put what you want on it.

Not bad for what they are, just doesn't make the cut for the crowd on this site. Big points on the GMC, but not so good on the wheels here. But, with that said, figure out what you like for it and do that. Just do it well and most people with still be cool with it, just not their personal tastes.

looks like a nice car to me. I like those wheels... I won't be putting them on my car, but it's OK by me if you put them on yours.

yes, those wheels are better, but no "dicks" brakes either please...

and those bling wheels don't match rolling with a 265 under the hood

Dude, that's a beautiful '56 :) wheels are such a personal thing hey, its like asking these guys if they like your new purple skin tight shirt .....

If its not their thing, they sure not going to like it!

    Personally I love it!

(the wheels, not skin tight shirts)

As Dirty Tace said, you'd expect an injected engine under the hood, and thats what I'm all about. Don't get me wrong, love the traditional stuff the really talented guys do on here, but 'modern' customs and rods can also be appreciated - just not by the majority of HAMBer's.

I swear my avatar must get spat at every time I post here :p

I don't really dig the wheels, but you got one nice lookin 56.What do you mean the paint is coming off, looks like it was just painted.Looks good from here!

  26. Thats the main reason I dont do the traditional scene...Too many of the "lifestyle" or poser clowns, that cant see a cool car for what it is...I am a hotrodder. I build what I like because I like it, not for some spider web tatooed, hair grease wearing wannabe. If you like the big wheels, keep them. If not, take them off. Not my cup of tea, but I won't slight you for them either, friend. Heck, my `57 last time round had Pro Stars and a stroker WIndsor with about 600 hp...This time 15 X 7 steelies and 14X5 M/T 5 spokers up front with twin turbo Y block going together....And I may bolt on a set of those cool new Billet Specialties drag wheels, just because I think they look cool. Huh, imagine that, building something because I want it, instead of wanting to impress a bunch of hipsters...

i'm pretty sure that most guys on here are not just stuck to one style as they may own a traditional car, street rod, and muscle car,and a custom also, I do and i like all styles so if you like them by all means run the crap out of them and enjoy the car after all isn't that what it's all about. just my .02

I like most cars, but Donk wheels look like crap on an otherwise stock appearing '56. IMO.
