Just made the deal for what I think is a 31 frame with engine, tranny,etc....... Rear end is spoken for. Do I need to save this engine or tranny for any banger folks? If is was a B I know the answer would be yes. I hate to scrap anything in case somebody needs it.
Are you crazy . people alsow restore model a fords . sell the stuff to somone who needs it .I cant tell if your kidding or not. I have a tuff time trowing out old t and a rotted sheet metal
By all means, get it to someone who needs it. I'm sure there is someone out there that would love to have that engine and trans to rebuild. Bob
Yes I know, but I would RATHER save it for a HAMBER than just any old restorer. I know the block would have a core value to someone.
The only other issue is the fact Western South Dakota is a long way from most people! I have room to store, I will prob get to see the parts this weekend.
I also have a couple of Stock Model A's and good engine blocks are getting hard to find. I'd say hold on to it or use it as trading stock.
You think the frame is a '31? The frame / motor number would be 4237501 to 4830806...maybe that will help ID it.
Yeah, I have not seen the frame yet so I havent been able to check the numbers. The pal that has it said it had a 30/31 grill but since this is off the farm who knows until I get my hands on it!
Know what ya mean.. I've got a stock looking but internally modified banger motor in this truck.. Winfield grind cam, 7:1 Brumfield head, bored out A intake, rejetted Zenith carb etc... looks totally stock but it'll run 65 or so all day long. with the 3.54 gears I've buried the speedo (80 mph), but with mechanical brakes I didn't do that for very long. Collecting pieces to do a full dress banger motor now.
When you find out what kind of shape it is in. I was planning on rounding up some banger parts. And what do you need so I can work a trade out?
56Sedan, that truck is tits. And yes save all the parts you don't need for someone else. Trades are good.
