I though it was about time for me to put up or shut up. I have been asking quite a few questions lately and have not provided any visuals to correspond. Well, wait no more my fine friends. Feed back is welcome good, bad or ugly. It's a 1931 Chevy 5W Coupe purchased from Indiana.

This is my truck hooked up with the goods loaded. I bought the car from a Hamb Lurker in Indiana. Real nice guy. Thank Gene.

My Father In-Law (The Don) tagged along for the ride. He's what I like to call a strap master. Right about now he started *****ing about not feeling his toes.

This is the next day back at home in Charlotte. As you can imagine the weather was much nicer then in Indiana. The wife helped me unload the car from the trailer and I started unloading the bed full of parts.

Here are some of the parts I unloaded
    [IMG]

    and some more

These are going in the "sell" pile. I probably will regret selling them but I need to generate more money so that I can get this thing to a more respectable height. I can't believe the condition of these parts, they are a restorers dream.

Here is a shot from last sunday. I promised to not work on the car until I get that s-10 sold that is in the back round of one of the other pics. First things first. I did hang the doors and throw the hood on there to get an idea of where I am headed.

Here is another shot of the other side. The only bit of cancer is on the rear wheel wells. It's about 6" x 6" on each side. Easily fixed as I plan to zip those out asap.

Here's a shot from the front. The stance is a bit wide huh? I plan on rectifying that with a 47" Ford 4" dropped axle. And you say what about those parallel leafs Jeff? GONE!!! Well that's the plan. I'm thinking a transverse set up even though I may get an Old Fashion Knuckle Sandwich by the Traditional Chevy guys.

Here is a shot from the back. Now correct me if I am wrong. Model "A's" have flush deck lids and overlapping doors right? Why would Chevy choose the exact opposite? Woud it really have been that hard to flush mount the decklid from the factory. Anyways decklid looks good and as with the rest, it's in really good condition.

And for the last one (for now), an image of the wood structure. I am showing you this because I know that the problem with many Chevy 's from these years is the inner-wood construction condition. Well as you can see it's in terrific shape. For the most part this is how it all looks. And as for that color, it's original and is actually the color I plan on painting it or something very close.

The car was collected and conditioned by the former owner over the last 11.5 years. He spent a great deal of time making sure that everything was of the best quality since he was restoring the car to it's original condition. The original 216 engine was even rebuilt with all Egge parts and was painted back to an original battleship color. Everything looks to be of the highest quality. Unfortunately, I have no use for that engine. What i have in place is the 331 Hemi that a great deal of you fine folks have educated me on. That i should have some pics of soon. I still have to take it out of the donor car. I pretty much have every part to restore this car and then some. I will have to sell a bunch of it off because I have no use for a lot of it. Hopefully I can get enough money out of that stuff so that I don't put the hurt on my wife for more parts money.....oh who am I kidding? She's already feeling the hurt.

Ok, last picture. It's parked in the garage with my other project car. The '54 Chevy that I have been working on (very slowly) for the past year is parked transversely to the '31 in the garage and it affords me some more room to collect more ****!!!! Hopefully it will be in the form of tools and not unfinished Hot rods.

Let me know what you think guys!:D

Looks great. I have a 32' 3W. It had a lot of rotten wood in it, body is pretty good. Not as good as yours. It's good to see more early 30's Chevys. Can't wait to see it done.

I know I was thinking about calling it the big three;)!!! I am going to try to keep as much of the integrity as I can. It will be all the small things that represents it's heritage. Don't worry I am not trying to make it a Model A. I am taking a few cues from ****ie Flippens' earlier version of his coupe.

Nice car, great shape. I have the same car but went fenderless and channeled with mine. You're lucky to find one with good wood

The '54? Well, it's a 2dr 210 that I got from South Carolina. I bought it last year right after my father's death and have dedicated the car to him. I've dubbed it "Sky Pilot" after his favorite song ( I know naming cars is not all that hip). It's pretty much a shell and frame now. It was complete when I got it but you know how those things go. I was going to throw a MII in and a simple notch but after seeing B***'s '49 Fastback I have told myself that I would take my time and put everything I have into it, much like B***'s frame. What I have dreamed in my head is a Silver Pearl body with Olive flaked top. Sombreros and Wide whites. Pretty much everything that makes a clean custom cl***y. Time will only tell my friend!

Nice find! I'll have more metal to replace in one truck door that you do in the entire body, that should be the way we all start.

I know I know. I should be in the garage working on it. But like I said first things first. I have stuff to sell and finish before I get to dive on in. Thanks again for all the nice words. Even though I had nothing to do with it's current condition. Your inputs get me excited and makes me want to start chipping away.

  25. That old original motor was not a 216, they came out in '37. Your motor has no parts interchange with the later six, and was a 206, I believe. Someone wants that engine, contact the vintage chevy club of america(vcca). PM me if you want someone's phone #
