On American Movie Cl***ics tonight 3:00 A.M. "Earth Vs the Spider" 1958. Really nice typical 50's '32 hiboy roadster in 3-4 fairly long scenes in the movie. Great, up close shots of the car driving down the road and parking, characters getting in and out of the car etc. Car has wide whites and bobbed rear fenders. Typical '50's flick with radiation(of course) causing a spider to grow to the size of a house.
just love that 32 roadster, when it started and "american international" scrolled on the screen I just knew that it would have at least 1 rod in it ,got to love the line when they are looking down the ditch and say "what's that down there ? oh it's only an old truck" it was a 56 f100 and the movie was made in 58 , gotta love it
My DVR caught this one. I had it set to record anything with the words "Hot Rod". This movie was described as "hot rod teens encounter giant spiders"...
LOL. The script was weak. It was strange, the main characters and the sherrif were looking for the girls dad in the cave but went walking right past human skeletons. When they left the cave they did not even make an effort to identify the other skeletons.
When the spider was in the gym it was about the 10ft tall by 15 around but when it was outside it was larger than house.
Come on now! Don't ruin it for me! Old movies RULE!!!!!! Giant spider...Hotrods....what else can you ask for? Except maybe some B&W ******* scenes,LOL!!!!!
Every time i see "American International" i get chills. My grand father used to work for them in the 50's and 60's. They were known for the "racey" movies. My mom has a life size pin up of Jane Mansfield along with several other items from his estate. It hung behind the door of his projection room in the ba*****t. Its a wonder my grandmother never threw it out!
