I may have time to show up for this.Sounds like fun.Probably have to drive the cycle as my current project will not be road ready yet and have sold my 48 pickup to finish current project. Mike
Man I can't wait. I can already taste the bbq. O wait thats what we just had for dinner. Any how what should me and the folks bring.
It's looking like it'll just be Travis and I. We'll probably pitch a tent at yoow chur place Jay... you know cheap I am. ;-)
I'm not sure but I think Jay has been fattening some hogs over there on his farm. Rumor is, there will be pork bbq this year.
Kerry, Cheap?? Cheap?? I'll have to give you some lessons on being cheap. So who's got a tent to sleep in? I'll just take the lean to, or I'll just sleep in the barn. PS, please some extra TP, I may have to get up in the middle of the night, I don't know if Velvet weed will be big enough to use this early in the spring. HellRaiser
Yes Folks- less than two weeks out!!! Looks like the party is gonna get started Friday afternoon, as some people will be rolling in that day/eve. As some of you may know- the schedule for this shin-dig is extremely flexible. The penciled in plan for Saturday as of now (since many of us will be in Abilene that morning) is to drive over to Eskridge KS for a late breakfast, and then drive back to Brown's Park in Abilene via K-4. Now- you can meet up with these hoodlums anywhere: My place in the early AM, 8am ish. Meet in Eskridge for "breakfast", @9am Come straight to Brown's Park, noon- 1pm Or go to my place in the early eve. 5pm ish. As far as what you might want to bring- just post up what you plan to get so we don't have duplicates. I am smoking up a couple pork shoulders. My wife is making coleslaw. Paul's wife is bringing potato salad Kerry's cooler with soda pop Greg's mom will prolly bring some salads. Mike dirtracker29- coffee urn to get everyone going Sat morn (haha) *john- BBQ "Methane Special" Beans *Paul- case of burgers from Smoky Hill Meats *Alan-couple cases of dawgs/brats *Lacie- mmmmm cakes *Greg's Mom- plates/forks/spoons/napkins we need: buns more desserts what else? The first year we had what about 25 people? Last year we had 50-60? Please don't feel obligated to bring anything though, and don't worry about not having your HAMB worthy hotrod/custom there. This gathering is for us all to hang out and eat and spread the gospel of traditional hotrods and customs.
Looks like the wife and I will get out our ole vat and whip up a batch of bbq beans for this fine event. See you all there!
Is that legal? Does it make you high or something? I just don't understand you young whippersnappers anymore...... BTW, I will bring a case of hamburger patties straight from the butcher shop.
Jay, I am bringing Cuzzin Deke and he will be looking for love because it has been a long cold winter. Here is a picture of his good side. He is in need of dental work right now.
If anyone has any movies on DVD they think'd be good for the "drive-in" speak up. I don't think it necessarily has to be a car movie, last time we watched Star Wars. I've got Hollywood Knights I can bring, but I'll leave it to a vote on what we watch. I'll volunteer Lacie to bake a couple cakes since I don't think anyone's spoken up for desserts.
Not exactly a movie but I've got some Don Tuttle videos converted from old home movies of racing back in the day with his commentary. A lot of drags, some lakes, and a little circle track. I'll bring it just in case. Edit - A description “Hot Rod Potpourri 1” & “2” includes the drags at Pomona, Fontana, Henderson, Lions, Riverside (1/2 mile), Santa Ana, Colton, OCIR, and not forgetting Great Bend for coverage of the 1st ever NHRA national meet. Also on these two tapes coverage of Bonneville including Thomson’s quad Pontiac Challenger, record runs and spills, stock car and circle track races from the late 40’s with Hudsons versus Crossleys and footage of real track-T’s in action.
None that are in any kind of condition to make such a long drive from Topeka to Abilene without stopping for a nap and a bathroom break or three. Maybe if you offered them a nice glass of prune juice...
