I am installing a residual pressure valve inline on my T. I have never had one leak, until now. It wont quit dripping when I tighten it down. Its a Speedway brand, and Im wondering if I can use thread sealent on it?

  2. I have used sealant on tapered thread brake fittings all the time. It is not good to use tape on the brake line fitting but some good quality liquid or paste sealant would do the trick.

Just dont use to much, a little is good and alot is not. Make sure there is no brake fluid in the threads when you put it together.

Teflon tape is for pipe threads. It won't do a thing for a flared tube fitting leak.
Either the flare is split, or it or the seat is ******ed up or the two aren't aligning straight on to each other.
Or you stripped the threads already and it'll never tighten down.
Take it apart and re***emble or replace which ever part is faulty.

What the good doctor said. You're not relying on a seal in the thread. You need to get a good seal on the flare. Anything else is just a patch up job.

For pipe thread, I just put a master cyl and slave for a clutch, and the directions said use lock***e on the pipe threads in the aluminun. First time I've did that, didn't leak.

  7. Those Aluminum RPVs ****. We first had this discussion here 6 years ago. Most agreed that the Br*** ECI valves were better. Try some anti-seize Jim, leave the tape to the turd herders.

  8. Any kind of pipe sealant on a brake fitting is like putting a bandaid on a bullet hole. If it won,t stop leaking fix it properly. After all...its your brakes!

The one time I tried to use those aluminum RPV's (in '98 or so), they cracked before they sealed. Then I got some from ECI. Problem solved.

Sounds like a bad part. I had a T fitting leak brand new out of the package once. Just bought a new one. You don't want to mess around with brakes

I dont think tapered pipe thread on brake fitting is a good idea. Tapered seat flare only for me.
