WOW Great pictures. Not only are the cars great but the stuff in the background is also. I love the picture of the filthy forty. My husband and i own the filthy forty look a like. Its not a clone. We loved the paint job and we contacted the S&S team to make sure it was okay to paint it black with the white stripe and they said it was fine. One thing led to another and we ended up lettering the car up for pork so they could use it at the g***er reunion at thompson in 2007 (they were grand marshalls) When we first saw in a old picture of the original filthy the lettering on the door driver pork or larry we thought it was a joke because my husbands name is larry. Pork told us that in the beginning he and a gentlman named larry shared driving duties. I can post a picture of our car if anyone would like to see it. I don't want to take up the space on this thread if no one does. Once again great pictures:D:D

Gary, being an ametuer photographer, whom has been taking pictures my whole life, I can truly appreciate these. There is a whole 'nother dimension to these photo's, in regaurds to the story that they tell. We all pray for "the old days/simpler times" and rightly so! Cars hauled to racetrack with Mom's grocery getter.
This Lakewood Rail Job is from my hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. Gonna make sure Some of the local boys, like G***er57 (Kevin) and Don Moyer see these. Where did they come from? Thanks for sharing.

BTW...just got some 8mm converted to DVD movies, of the 1963 Watkins Glen race, from my uncle. Will attempt to post it sometime.
Anyone know how I can do this??

one of the willys looks to have a 8 lug axle, any idea what was used back then?

Those are some really beautiful photographs. That's about as close as you can get to actually being there.

What's the expression I've seen used here before? Something like "These pictures are making my pants tight!" That sounds right.

Did you scan these yourself? If so, what did you use? You did a great job and didn't mess with the distinctive Kodachrome look. The only way they might look better would be if they were projected onto a big-*** screen in a darkened room. Were these from 35mm or 120 film?

More drag cars need "Driver Pork Or Larry" lettered on the doors. And what about that red streamlined digger with the engine cover removed? Anybody know what or whose car that is? Don't think I remember ever seeing it before but it looks like it should be in Garlit's museum.
