Spent the day at Dave Crane's Dragster Museum yesterday and it was way cool. Dave is a great host and a wealth of knowledge. Got some pics to share. Thanks Dave for the great time. Kent
A fella just needs to have at least 4 elephants setting in his shop!!! This place is cool! any more pics? Wish it was closer. Thanks Bogart, OLY The cancer car lives Give to cancer research
I have talked to Dave Crane on the phone before while searching for some dragster parts. He is a real nice guy. Dave is where Al Bergler found his orginal dragster body. I would love to go see this in person sometime.
The wanna-be driver in that beautiful red slingshot is me - but here are some pics of Bogart in the yellow winged car along with some other pics of the museum. It really was cool as hell. A great way to spend a Saturday. Dave seemed to love having us there - I am sure he'd welcome all Hambers for a visit. Mike
I've known Dave for only 4 or 5 years now. He is truly one of the nicest guys around, and like bogart62 said a great host and full of knowledge, used to do tech inspections at one of the strips back in the day. [131?, I forget which one right now]
Dave Crane was the original "flagman at Martin Dragway then the Tech. guy (hope I have that right). As mentioned earlier, he is a great guy with a ton of knowledge on hemi engines, dragsters etc. His jokes were good too.
I posted some pictures of Dave's place a couple years ago, As mentioned Dave is a great guy with lots of great stories, There is a group of us that get together during K-Zoo every year for a visit,... Dave was the first one to find out for me that "The Blue Racer" was registered at the US Nationals at Indy in 64,... and then called me back to tell me it won B/SR,...... Dave and the HAMB is where all the history started coming together on it. (In fact Dave emailed me today to let me know about this thread,... )
Glad you guys liked my stuff......I will try to have more shots posted later on. I have to depend on others because I don't know what I'm doing with a computer.....Dave Crane
You guys who live in driving distance write me if you want to see my stuff, and we can plan something out. I have to be carefull about this, but I do have car clubs and groups visiting all the time, the more the merrier. There is no charge, but bring people that can be trusted.........you know what I mean. Get ahold of me at davecranemuseum@sbcglobal.net
Hey Dave !, Glad to see you made it on the HAMB,..... and judging with the email you sent me today about "Mardi Gras",..... I think you will be able to navigate the HAMB with no trouble.
if you go to see dave you will enjoy the ''HOME OF ALUMINUM ***'' but this is a warning! HE IS CONTAGIOUS !
hey, if you go to visit dave you will enjoy ''THE HOME OF ALUMINUM ***'' but you have been warned! HE IS CONTAGIOUS ! .......
DAVE! It's good to see you on here! I toured your place and sent images of them in to, ahem, the editor/publisher I worked for, and I can't explain why nothing came of it. You've got a set of valve covers hanging on the wall there with my name on them! I need to get back up by you and do it right this time. -Brad
Swim Easy......That red digger is a 1958 Ch***is Research TE 440 car built by Jay Orberg and **** Stevens in Monmouth Illinois back then. They originally ran a hemi with a 4-71 and a two port upright Hilborn, but sold the car at the end of 1959 and it has had a Chevy in it since then. It was restored in 1984 and my wife bought it for me in 2003 for fathers day! I did a lot of cleanup work and got it running. It replaced a 160 inch Garlits car that I sold to remodel the house. Museum Dave
hey Dave; You still having those "get to gethers" at the museum? We got to get over there sometime. Thanks; Rick
Yeah, George and I have had more than a few discussions about those covers! I'll be up your way in June for the Factory Appearing/Stock Tire race at Martin. Can I stop by and drool again? -Brad
If any of you Detroit area guys (and girls) set up a trip, I'd like to come and bring my son Michael- he's really into FED's- which isn't too bad for a 7 year old. Dave, thanks for the invite, it's really cool of you to show stuff like that. Jay
