    Hey Gang

I got the money for new tires!!! I am going to spring for new tires for my 51 mercury. I was planning to get the radials. I wanted to pick your brains and see what size works best and if anyone has had a problem with the Coker line

Coker recommends the P215-75R15 I paln to get the 2 1/2 whitewalls any suggestions?

So, does that mean that the old wide whites are up for grabs when I come down? :)

BTW yes Ive run 215s on a Merc, I believe I had 215/70/15 (ground down white walls) but Im pretty sure I also had 215/75/15. I think by definition its a smidge on the wider side, but not to where it would be a problem.

    Thanks Guys,
So far the feedback is 215/70/15 215/75/15 any other feedback? Every one like the Cokers? They give a discount to Alliance members, not sure if the cost at the shows (going to Charlotte the week) would be the same or cheaper.

Check and make sure you have enough backspace on your wheels so the tires won't hit inside the fender. Stock merc wheels are have a total edge to edge width of 6.5 inches and have a 4 inch back space and came with 7:10 x 15 bias tires. I put a pair of P20575R15's on and found that there is not enough backspacing. I think I will need to have wheels with 4 1/2 inch backspacing or skinnier tires. 49 -51 Lincoln wheels have a total edge to edge width of 7 inches and more backspacing. I think the back spacing on the Lincoln wheels is 4 1/4 in, can't remember for sure.

I like the Diamond Back tires. They shave the sidewalls of all lettering so the are totally smooth. dbtires.com
