Anyone ever heard of Bobs auto parts in Fosteria Mi? Got my latest farm auction guide and there going to auction off 1800 cars on the weekend of May 17. The pictures look like they have a lot of 40's cars. Wonder if it will be worth going?
I know at one time there was alot of cool stuff up there. I have never been through the place, the owner wasnt real keen on letting people in to browse. There was always some cool stuff that you could see through the fence, or sitting outside.
My neighbor has been up there. He says there's a ton of old stuff up there. Those pictures remind me of the paintings with the piles of cars stacked up. Almost looks like you could drive that Poncho off the top of the pile. Anybody know what their AD pick up pile looks like?
Nope, but your talking to the individual that's probably wasted more time chasing elusive '32 Fords than just about anyone on the planet. Frank
...been there many times, not a whole lot left that's worth a crap, typical Michigan yard, everything rotted back to the earth...Bob was a hard guy to deal with, but I got along with him pretty well and he let me walk the yard whenever I needed something, but that was unusual, he was NOT that friendly! Inside the building is filled with N.O.S. parts still in the boxes, oil & gas memorabilia, toys, stuff like that...there was a rebuilt Y-block inside on a stand that he was asking $2,300 for! No useable '20's or '30's stuff left, but, alot of trucks, and '40's-up cars... I never saw them, a friend of mine claims he did, but apparently there are SEVERAL, Packard V-12 motors still in the crates & Cosmoline,...Bob was a big military vehicle collector, I guess these motors were used in tanks(?)...but most of the military stuff was stored at his home...
oh man thanx for posting this, this is a bit off topic but i used to live near the march mobil gas station in clinton twp that they are auctioning off parts from on april 6. i went there as a kid and when i was in college i saw them take it down piece by piece. looks like i need to send my dad there with some coin... that junk yard has alot of cool stuff, but the old man was real crotchity and he wouldn't alow you to do shit unless he saw cash. he also wouldn't budge on his (medium to high) prices. and nooo browsing....
I have been all threw the yard a few times. Frank you wont find any 32 Fords. If i remember right there was alot of late 50 early 60 cars and alot trucks. Now i heard there was going to be two auctions, one for outside yard stuff and one for the stuff he had in the old station. Dont quote me on this but this came from a good source. There is alot of Rust. Yes Bob was a little high on his parts and that is why the stuff is still there. But is was a good guy to know. 8 Ball
